There are a lot of sports in the world, ranging from those that require top-shelf physical skill (marathon running, pro football against the New Orleans Saints) to sports you can sorta perform involuntarily (curling, the luge). Apparently the “wide wide world of sports” isn’t wide enough for some people, as natives of the Malay-Thai Peninsula have combined soccer, tennis, volleyball and I’m pretty sure hacky sack to perfect the sport of sepak takraw. I’m sure some of you have seen it before and will be all, “way to be cultured, Brandon, snoot snoot”, but no, I’ve never seen this before and it feels like they should be wearing wooden helmets and performing in the background of The Lion King. I think the best part of the video is that it takes place on FASHION ISLAND. From the Wikipedia entry for sepak takraw: Similar games include footbag net, footvolley, football tennis, bossaball, jianzi and sipa. These similar games all involve keepie uppies. Yeah, that clears it up. Thanks,...

New Orleans' "bounty hunting" engrained in NFL DNA

Spare me the outrage, the moral posturing and the sanctimonious grandstanding by anyone who claims to be offended that pro football is a tough, violent, nasty game. Football has risen to its status as Americas favorite sport because of the games inherent physical nature. Watch any game at any sports bar, and you hear whoop after whoop after whoop when a helmet-launching hit is...

Saints' Bounty Program Warrants Harsh Punishment, But Comparison to Spygate Is Apples to Oranges

Spygate has been thrust back into the limelight following the recent revelations regarding the New Orleans Saints' bounty program. But why? Aside from both instances breaking NFL rules, is there really a comparison to be made between the two? The Patriots' Spygate situation involved videotaping defensive coaches' signals, whereas the Saints' bounty program -- spearheaded...

How Screwed Are The Saints?

The month of March has not been kind to the Who Datters. It began with the reports that general manager Mikey Loomis was soft-pedaling the talents of his elite franchise quarterback and then proceeded to get exponentially worse with the fulmination of GregggggggGggggate. If only matters smoothed over, we’d assume that the team might be able to outlast this catastrophe, but, alas...

Trouble In New Orleans by G.W. Gras

The world of sports is a funny thing.  One minute - an athlete, coach or franchise can be on top of the world and the next minute, fall flat on their face.  In 2009 the New Orleans Saints stood atop the football universe as Super Bowl Champs.  Every player and coach on that team became hero's to a city that was literally left in ruin due to the devastation left in 2005 by...

Let's All Pretend That We Care About Bounties!

Geaux Saints, brah! Are you a man or are you a little ***** *****?  That is pretty much what all of this Saints-bounty ******** boils down to.  If you are a man, you don't care and you realize that it isn't that big of a deal.  If you are a little ***** *****, then you just got done with your shift at Habitat For Humanity and long for football to become soccer.  How...
