What to know about the Vikings' four new offensive linemen
USA TODAY Sports

The Vikings have shored up their offensive line depth in the last few days, signing one lineman to their active roster and three to their practice squad. Reinforcements were needed after Vederian Lowe was traded to the Patriots, Chris Reed was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, and four of the five OL who were waived on Tuesday were not brought back to the practice squad.

Here what's to know about these four new backup linemen.

T David Quessenberry

Quessenberry is the only member of this group who was signed to the 53-man roster. The 33-year-old tackle has started 26 games over the past three years with the Bills and Titans, including all 17 at right tackle for Tennessee in 2021. He has experience playing both tackle spots and has even spent some time at guard, giving him valuable versatility. In 2021, he graded as one of the best run-blocking tackles in the league.

His story is an unusual one; Quessenberry is a former college walk-on and a cancer survivor who didn't make his NFL debut until four years after he was drafted.

OL Hakeem Adeniji

Adeniji, 25, was a Bengals sixth-round pick out of Kansas in 2020. He started 15 regular season games and seven playoff contests for Cincinnati over the past three years, spending time at both tackle spots and right guard. Adeniji hasn't earned strong marks from PFF in his career, but he brings versatility and postseason experience to Minnesota. He started at RG against Aaron Donald and the Rams in Super Bowl LVI.

OL Tyrese Robinson

A 2022 UDFA out of Oklahoma, Robinson was signed by the Eagles and spent his rookie season on their practice squad. He was waived last week. At OU, Robinson started 38 games over his last three seasons, splitting time between right tackle and right guard. He earned second team All-Big 12 honors as a senior.

OL Henry Byrd

Previously with the Broncos as an undrafted rookie, Byrd is an interesting prospect because of his athleticism (and, you guessed it, versatility). He played left tackle at Princeton and posted a 9.09 Relative Athletic Score this year. Byrd moved to left tackle for the Broncos in the preseason and earned an 81.9 PFF grade on a small sample of 62 snaps.
