It really shouldn’t have surprised anyone when the New Orleans Saints caved and gave QB Drew Brees that amazing contract last week. Sure, it was a little surprising that Tom Benson made Brees the highest paid player in NFL history, but everybody involved in that whole situation needed some good news, so it was bound to happen.

What was surprising was the news that Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers would apparently be next in line to start worrying about his contract. My first thought was, “Wait, what? He’s about to be a free agent? GET HIM MIAMI, YOU TERRIBLE DECISION-MAKERS!” But then I remembered that the dude still has 3 years left on his deal. So why the hell are people asking him about it now?

“That stuff takes care of itself,” Rodgers told Ian Rapoport. “I still have a few years left on my deal, and we’ll talk about that when we get there.” (Via Total Packers, which is probably very misleading to another demographic)

Exactly. Rodgers ain’t care. He’s got his mind on two things – winning Super Bowls and slaying 10s. And he’s already shown us that he’s pretty good at both of those. Because this is one of the lamest summer non-stories in recent NFL memory, let’s dedicate today’s Sexy Friday to the ladies that A-Rodg has discount double checked.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers won’t squeeze Green Bay for more money.

Believe it or not Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was the first person that I thought of when the terms of Drew Brees’ new contract were announced. The reason being is that at 33 years-old Brees is getting $20 million a year for what will most likely be his last huge payday. At this point will Rodger try to squeeze as many as two record breaking paydays out his NFL lifespan?

Countdown: Are Packers 2-14 Without Rodgers?

In the finale of our 90-to-1 countdown of the Packers' most important players, Matt Tevsh asks where the Packers would be without MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Would they suffer through the same sort of debacle as the Colts without Peyton Manning?

Brees Contracting Means New Orleans Universe Is Expanding

In news that is no longer new to most, Drew Brees has finally signed with New Orleans to the tune of $100 million over 5 years, $60 million of which is guaranteed.  Obviously this is huge news for both Brees and the Saints but how does it relate to fantasy?  Well, for 2012 it’s looking good for the guys who do that whole ‘catch the ball’ thing down in NO as Darren Sproles...

New Orleans Saints 2012 NFL Season Preview

Offense The Saints’ offseason went about as badly as any offseason where you don’t lose major players could go. First there was BountyGate, which caused the Saints to lose their top pass rusher, Will Smith, for 4 games, their starting middle linebacker, Jonathan Vilma, for the season, and Head Coach Sean Peyton for the season. It also is a major distraction for the players and...
