TEAMS: Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders
Here are some quick hits about the first team organized activity, yesterday. The team met at their headquarters, playbooks were distributed and the players met each other.
Wheeler talks about being recruited
Also, Philip Wheeler spoke on a media conference call and said that he partially chose Oakland due to the coaching staff and schemes and partially due to the fans.
TFDS has already talked a bit about the fans roll in bringing Wheeler to Oakland here. He said that he gained about 2,000 followers from his Oakland visit which helped him make the decision to choose the Raiders, adding, "it showed me how big of a football city this is and how much they paid attention to football instead of going somewhere else. Indianapolis, it was pretty good football city, but the fans, they didn't' get more involved in media, and just showing us how much they care about the game. I always wanted to play in a big football for a legendary team, something like that and that kind of ...

Irsay: RG3's agent declines workout
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted Tuesday morning that the team's request to hold a private workout for Robert Griffin III has been declined by the quarterback's agent.
The Raiders’ Secret Weapon: Marcel Reece
In a league where the passing game is becoming more and more of a focal point for offenses, the fullback position is often times overlooked. That is, unless you have a fullback whom possesses the skills of a receiver, while still capable of opening up holes for the running backs in the running game. Marcel [...]
Darren McFadden is “feeling pretty good now” after Lisfranc injury
Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden appeared on Sirius XM NFL Radio and confirmed that he indeed suffered a Lisfranc injury last season.
“It’s a long recovery from a Lisfranc injury,” he said. “… But I’m feeling pretty good now.”
Even though McFadden has been plagued with injuries during his career so far, he doesn’t plan on changing the way he plays the...
Do the Colts want Griffin?
The Colts seemingly are incredibly interested in Robert Griffin III in the upcoming draft or are at least doing their best to convince us they're interested.
Nate Dunlevy tackles this possibility with his usual deft touch:
Sorry, not buying it. If they were making a late-in-the-game push to go after Luck then that means they didn't have enough information back in March...
Wilbon: Colts are actually considering Robert Griffin III
This won’t be the last report we hear from somoene that is apparently, “in the know.” But ESPN personality, and former Washingotn Post columnist Michael Wilbon was on the air with PTI colleague Tony Kornheiser and informed him that people that he has spoken with within the Indianapolis Colts organization have led him to believe that there is a real possiblity that the Heisman...
New faces dot Colts landscape
The Colts are adjusting to drastic changes as they go through their first week of workouts.
Among the new faces: general manager Ryan Grigson, coach Chuck Pagano and offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.
There's a new defense. The Colts will switch to the 3-4 that Pagano had success with in Baltimore.
There's a new attitude. The quiet Jim Caldwell has been replaced by the...
Dunlevy's mock draft
Nate is at it again and his time he's got a full seven round mock draft for the Colts including some names high on my list. I'm particularly fond of his second and third round picks although I doubt they both are available at those spots:
34th (second) - Coby Fleener, TE, Standford
Again, I've said my peace on this one, too. The Colts have obvious defensive needs,...
Why Griffin turned down a private workout
Robert Griffin III turned down the Colts' request for a private workout. In fact, he turned down all requests for private workouts and Adam Schefter has a few theories why Griffin was reluctant to show his wares again. First among those reasons Schefter proposes is that Griffin feels he's proved himself already. He also suggests perhaps Griffin simply prefers going to Washington...
Irsay: RG3 declined to work out for Colts
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay claimed Tuesday that quarterback Robert Griffin III declined an invitation to work out privately for the team.
The statement from Irsay, if confirmed, appeared to cement the notion that the Colts will select former Stanford star Andrew Luck as their replacement for Peyton Manning.
Luck will work out for the Colts on Tuesday in Indianapolis, and...

Raiders try out DE Dave Tollefson
The Raiders had a tryout with former Giants free agent DE Dave Tollefson, today. He was once a player on the Raiders practic squad before signing with the Giants active roster in 2007, becoming a member of their formidable defensive line rotation and a sometimes starter when injuries demanded.
If he signs with the Raiders he will fill much the same role - a backup and situational...
GM Boot camp lesson 3
My advice today for GMs is considerably more simple than the previous lessons: make the most of what you have today. Ryan Grigson: LISTEN UP!
The average tenure for a general manager with a team (excluding dictators Jerry Jones and Mike Brown) is 4.2 years. The median for GMs is 3 years. Coaches fare a bit worse with an average of 3.3 years and a mean of 2 years. In other words...
NFL Rumors: Colts May Sign Byron Leftwich
Looks like Drew Stanton just can’t catch a break.
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians wants the team to sign Byron Leftwich as the back-up quarterback to help out Andrew Luck (or Robert Griffin III) for next season as they prepare for their rookie year.
Arians used to be with the Steelers these past few years and worked with Leftwich...
Jim Irsay Tweets RGIII’s Agent Declined Private Colts’ Workout
It has been widely speculated that the Indianapolis Colts will draft Stanford’s Andrew Luck with the #1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. After having released future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, Colts’ owner and social media star, Jim Irsay, has been hinting that the Colts are taking a serious look at drafting Baylor’s...Read the Rest...
