Obviously once a team wins the Super Bowl, their goal is to repeat the next season. However, a tight cap situation may make that goal difficult for the Ravens heading into the 2013 season. The top priority for Baltimore this offseason is to get Joe Flacco under contract, whether that’s with the franchise tag or a long-term deal. After that, the goal is to get enough talent around him to continuously compete. That’s where the tight cap becomes a difficult situation to deal with. There are several key veterans with high cap numbers like Anquan Boldin that could be released. Boldin could also restructure his contract, which the Ravens would do if they felt he could play out the entire contract. Another veteran that has a big cap number is Terrell Suggs. Obviously the Ravens aren’t going to release him so they could extend him to lower his cap number. It will be an interesting offseason to see the changes the Super Bowl champions make.
