QB Trent Edwards fights for a roster spot. Image via the Philadelphia Eagles. The Philadelphia Eagles rounded out a perfect preseason with their 28-10 win over the New York Jets on Thursday night. That’s all well and good, but we know it’s just the preseason. Last night’s game had some very real implications for men struggling for a spot on the team’s roster, which must be trimmed from the current 74 down to 53 by 9 pm Friday evening. So who helped their cause on Thursday? -Trent Edwards: Edwards did it all last night–threw, slid, and and ran. He was 22/32  for 197 yards and 2 touchdowns for a passer rating of 105.9. Edwards also had 36 rushing yards on 4 carries. In his postgame remarks, Andy Reid was complimentary of Edwards’ play. I thought [QB] Trent Edwards played well. He had a lot of drives, and a lot of touchdowns there, so you have to give him credit for that along with the offensive line…I thought he played well and did a nice job. -Chris Polk: Going into Thursday’s game, ...

DeMeco Ryans Looks to Quarterback a Philadelphia Eagles Bounce Back On Defense

After a very aggressive offseason prior to the 2011-2012 NFL season – including signing Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha – the Philadelphia Eagles were thought to be one of the more likely Super Bowl contenders. Eagles Trim to 53 and Make Trade for Safety

The Eagles, like the rest of the NFL trimmed their roster to 53 players yesterday. There weren’t too many surprises, but a couple of names have been around town for a while and will now be looking for new homes. Another player found a new home in Philly. Eagles Finally Riding Themselves of Practice Squad Talent

As the Eagles 53 man roster starts to take shape, I’m glad to see they cut Chad Hall. I have nothing against Hall, and he’s a very likeable guy, but one of the major problems the Eagles have had under this regime at times is a severe lack of talent evaluation. Chad Hall is simply not an NFL caliber player, and the Eagles have carried guys like him on their roster for far too...
