Which Atlanta receiver are you taking?
One team, two great wide receivers. Which one are you drafting?
The Atlanta Falcons are in a great position offensively. Matt Ryan has two receivers that are top 10 talent, easily. At WR1 is the veteran and staple of the offense, Roddy White. Opposite him is the physical freak that is Julio Jones. Jones could arguably be the WR1 on at least half of the other teams in the NFL.
One receiver could be on the backside of his prime while the other is rising.
Is White going to see a downturn in targets?
Is Jones going to become central to the offense?
Do last year’s stats tell us anything?
Julio had 8 touchdowns his rookie season
Going into this writing Julio Jones’ ADP is 25th overall. Coming in as the sixth WR taken.
Roddy White’s ADP is 27th overall, and the eigth WR off the board. These guys are going very close together.
Let’s start with the top dog on the depth chart, Roddy White.
In 2011 he had 100 catches, 1,296 yards, w...
BEST OF MAXIM
Julio Jones had a monster night for the Falcons against the Ravens in their first preseason game. As you can see from this video, he’s all about the Falcon’s future and it’s past.

Big things are expected of Julio Jones this season, from himself, the fantasy football community, and his WR tandem partner. So far in the preseason, it looks like Jones is set to deliver on expectations. On Atlanta’s first series Jones had 4 catches for 58 yards and a score. The touchdown grab was a degree [...]
The opening snaps of the NFL preseason has come and gone and the main headlines of Peyton Manning looking sharp, Ryan Matthews and Michael Vick injuries have already been discussed in articles and blogs around the nation. That being said none of those storylines are what caught my eye on the first night of the preseason.
The Matt Ryan to Julio Jones connections did however...
All the talk at the wide receiver position during this offseason has revolved around the comebacks being made by Randy Moss, Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens. While those are nice storylines, the wide receiver most people will be talking about as the season progresses will probably be the Atlanta Falcons Julio Jones. We know that preseason games don’t matter, but an impressive showing...
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan spent the offseason going full beast-mode in the gym to to gain strength to turn his downfield passes into near-deadly lasers. Reports are Ryan has five to seven pounds of muscle, a weight gain so great it was likely aided with Weight Gain 4000 (BEEEFCAKE). Other than the likely barrage of obnoxious Facebook posts about how many chin-ups Ryan...
Things started out on offense much like last years squad. Michael Turner had two rushes to set up a third down and then Matt Ryan converted with a slant to Roddy White. Then Julio Jones go involved. Jones beat his man inside for 26 yards and then Ryan hit Jones on quick hit screen where he had two offensive linemen running down the field in front of him to block. Ryan went to Jones...
Quarterback Matt Ryan showed off his team's wide receiver talent in their brief time on the field during Atlanta's first exhibition game. Ryan hit Julio Jones six times for 109 yards and Roddy White three times for 46 yards.Fantasy Spin:The Falcons have thrown the ball in increasing numbers in each of Ryan's first three seasons from 570 to 577 to 594. In 2012, the Falcons...
The first weekend of the NFL pre-season is underway, and here at the world headquarters of Thepigskinreport.com, we’ve got you covered. This being the first week of the exhibition season, the six games played tonight will not feature much playing time from the veteran players. However, since most games are now at the halftime portion on their contests, a few interesting story lines...
Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan had similar stats in their preseason opener.
Flacco had the better support for the Baltimore Ravens.
Flacco and Ryan each threw one touchdown pass, but backup Curtis Painter threw three second-half touchdown passes to lead the Ravens to a 31-17 preseason win over the Falcons on Thursday night.
''I like the way our young guys competed and executed...
RGIII impresses in preseason debut.
What teams essentially look for out of a rookie quarterback making his NFL debut (preseason or otherwise), isn’t that he completes most of his passes or leads his team on a touchdown-scoring drive. Those things are nice, of course, but what is most important is that the young signal caller has command of the huddle, displays composure, and is...
First Off - Something I Don"t Want To See Tonight:
Well - that's if it were Matt Ryan, and not Michael Vick. If someone brought Michael Vick out into the middle of the field, slapped his old Falcons uniform on him, and broke his leg again...well...that'd be alright with me. Ultimately, just want to make sure everyone stays good and healthy for the next 21-22...
The sloppy play for the Ravens’ offense continued throughout the first quarter. They didn’t convert a third down and only gained nine yards on nine plays. Way to go, Ravens.
The defense picked it up a bit with linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo intercepting a Matt Ryan pass on the goal line.
And the Falcons scored a second touchdown in the second quarter on a Jacquizz Rodgers run...
Baltimore backup Curtis Painter threw three second-half touchdown passes to lead the Ravens to a 31-17 preseason win over the Falcons on Thursday night.
Atlanta's Matt Ryan led two touchdown drives, including a scoring pass to Julio Jones, before Painter took over.
Ryan completed 9 of 13 passes for 155 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He was 5 for 5 for 71 yards,...
If you’ve already had your fantasy draft, I’m sorry.
I’m sorry because this advice is a little too late. But I’m more sorry because you had your draft way too early. That was dumb.
See last night for the only reason you need not to have a draft so soon. Ryan Mathews, broken clavicle. Michael Vick injured thumb. Or you could even go back a few days and point to Trent Richardson’s...
The Ravens opened the preseason in not such a great fashion.
First, kicker Billy Cundiff kicked off into a touchback, which wasn’t what the coaching staff wanted. They would have preferred to have the coverage team run down the field.
Then the defense was lackluster in trying to stop the Falcons’ offense. Matt Ryan drove down the field against the Ravens’ defense. The Falcons’...
