Which franchise-tagged players are likely to receive extensions?

Several franchise-tagged players have agreed to contract extensions with their respective teams ahead of the July 15 deadline. On Friday, Baltimore Ravens star defensive tackle Justin Madubuike was the latest to join the list, inking a four-year, $98 million deal. 

With six players left unsigned, what are the chances they follow suit? Here's a look at where the remaining franchise-tagged players stand. 

Tee Higgins, WR, Cincinnati Bengals ($21.8 million): Roughly a year after refuting the idea of Higgins playing in another uniform, general manager Duke Tobin sounded less optimistic about agreeing to a long-term contract recently. Tobin said the Bengals are better with Higgins, but wouldn't predict a pending extension. 

Brian Burns, LB, Carolina Panthers ($24 million): Before ultimately using the franchise tag, Panthers GM Dan Morgan stated that "all options" regarding Burns were on the table, whether an extension or trade. According to insider Josina Anderson, a long-term deal isn't in play right now, and the Panthers may have to settle for a third-round pick as compensation. 

Michael Pittman, WR, Indianapolis Colts ($21.8 million): An extension doesn't seem imminent, but both sides seem eager to reach a deal. Colts GM Chris Ballard recently said he hoped they could come to a "compromise." Meanwhile, Pittman has clarified that he's not keen on playing under the franchise tag. 

Josh Allen, LB, Jacksonville Jaguars ($24 million): The Jaguars are "confident" they'll work out a long-term deal with Allen, per Garrett Podell of CBS Sports. The sooner, the better for Jacksonville, who could be in danger of losing stud wideout Calvin Ridley to free agency with Allen's franchise tag salary potentially hindering the ability to retain him. 

Antoine Winfield Jr., S, Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($17.1 million): The Buccaneers sound upbeat about reaching an extension with Winfield. GM Jason Licht recently stated that the influx of safeties on the free-agent market wouldn't affect negotiations, telling reporters, "We're all in agreement of where he should be." 

L'Jarius Sneed, CB, Kansas City Chiefs ($19.8 million): According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Chiefs are open to "consummate" a trade of Sneed. However, the recent extension signed by Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson gives both sides parameters for an agreement of their own, though neither outcome appears looming.
