NorthWest Sports Beat:
San Francisco 49ers
New Kids on the Block
Goodbye, Colin Kaepernick. Hello, Guiness.
The Seattle Seahawks turned a grind-it-out battle into a blowout in the second half, completely dismantling the San Francisco offense in a 29-3 victory.
Marshawn Lynch deserves all of the credit one can get after his 98-yard, three-touchdown performance. The Beast seems to always see red when playing San Fran. And I love it.
However, the defense is what really stood out to me.
The Legion of Boom had a great day. Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, and Richard Sherman all had an interception each. Each!
They locked down over-hyped Anquan Boldin and held the recently hot Kaepernick to 127 yards on 13-of-28 passing and three picks. Good for a 14.0 QBR and 20.2 QB rating. (Mind you, he was coming off of a 27-of-39, 412-yard and three-TD game from the week prior).

But really it all boils down to one thing: the defensive line.
One of the more quiet acquisitions the Seahawks made over the offseason was bringing in Michael Bennett. The 27-year-old defensive end out of Tampa Bay is coming off of a career year, having posted nine sacks, 41 tackles and three forced fumbles in 2012.
The thing that excited me about Bennett was the praise he received for his run defense. And while Seattle addressed its pass rush, the team needed to strengthen its somehow weakening run defense.
Well, Bennett did just that.
He only had four tackles on the day, but he was consistently putting pressure on Kaepernick. His sack was the event that brought the eruption from the 12th man, breaking the Guinness world record.
He also closed gaps and assisted in the complete shutdown of Frank Gore.
Avril was one of the big names acquired by Seattle in the offseason, but because of injury, he hadn’t been able to play in the opener.
Well, he played Sunday night, and had a game-changing play.
With a little over eight minutes to go in the second quarter of a 2-0 game, Kaepernick rolled out on 3-10. Avril pushed his blocker into the pocket, forcing Kaepernick to roll out. Avril quickly caught up and stripped the QB to give the ball to the offense in San Fran territory.
Cool fact about Avril: since coming into the league in 2008, he is 4th in the NFL in strip sacks with 16.
Not a bad trait to bring to the team.
So these are the new guys we got on the line — along with O’Brien Schofield. Once we get Chris Clemons back, as well as Bruce Irvin, this defensive line is going to be tough to match up against.
Next up we have a potential barn burner with Blaine Gabbert and the Jacksonville….Jacksonville….JAGUARS! That’s right, they’re called the Jaguars.
Could get ugly. In the best sense of the word.

The post Colin Kaepernick shaves his eyebrow (Video) appeared first on Pro Football Zone.
And then there was one. No, I’m not talking about the number of teams in first place in the NFC West. That’s important too, but I’m talking about the real news, which is Colin Kaepernick being forced to shave one eyebrow off after getting embarrassed by Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. The bet started out as a friendly joke for a Madden commercial, but it picked up steam as...
A bet is a bet. Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson made an “eyebrow bet” on last nights game that the 49ers lost. Colin Kaepernick has lived up to his end of the deal and shaved his eyebrow. He’s a better man than me because I would have pretended I never said that.
The only thing that hurts more than losing Week 2? Losing your eyebrow, just ask Colin Kaepernick — This might be the first time I’ve seen Kaep with his shirt on. See the video below:

The 49ers Might Have An Army, but The Seahawks Have a Hulk
Things got a little rowdy up in the nosebleeds at CenturyLink Field on Sunday, especially after cornerback Richard Sherman scaled Mt. (Vernon) Davis, adding one of the final, demoralizing nails into Colin Kaepernick’s coffin. You’ve probably seen the interception already, so we’ve cued the video to the incident in the stands.
This guy must be a converted/bandwagon Raiders fan...
Colin Kaepernick has been labeled the NFL's next Superman. But Seattle is his Kryptonite. His 49ers are now 0-2 against the Seahawks after he turned in the worst passing performance of 2013 Sunday night (20.1 passer rating).
The Seattle Seahawks dominated the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night in a 29-3 victory. In a game that was delayed by lightning in Seattle, the Seahawks beat the 49ers on offense and defense. After advancing to the Super Bowl last season, San Francisco, and especially quarterback Colin Kaepernick, looked downright awful. The game displayed an interesting story line as the two teams...
Spoiler alert: Colin Kaepernick (or at least his Madden NFL 25 avatar) will be losing an eyebrow as per the bet in the Madden TV commercial since Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks dominated the San Francisco 49ers Sunday evening, 29-3.
After last week’s QB performance, I gave Wilson a ‘B’ grade, with the expectation that he and the Hawks could and would improve. Kaepernick...
Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick wagered an eyebrow on Sunday night’s showdown in Seattle. After the Seahawks’ 29-3 win, it was time for Kaep to pay up.
The bet, a joke that originated from a Madden 25 commercial, suggested that the loser of the NFC West rivals matchup in Week 2 would have to shave off an eyebrow after the game. Well, if you believe everything you see, Kaepernick...
Since the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks became the teams-to-beat with their spectacular talent on defense, and offense; many NFL fans consider them evenly match, with the 49ers defeating the Seahawks in their first meeting last season, 13-6, and the Seahawks defeating the 49ers in their second meeting in 2012, 42-13.Colin Kaepernick(SF) and Russell Wilson(SEA) have...
It’s official. Seahawks fans are loud. And now they have the Guinness World Record to prove it.
During last night’s Seahawks-49ers game, Seattle fans attempted to set the world record for the loudest stadium crowd ever, with officials from Guinness on hand at CenturyLink field to record the feat. And during the 2nd quarter, when Michael Bennett sacked...
