NFL Draft Zone:
Whitney Mercilus had 2 sacks & a FF vs Buffalo despite playing just 9 defensive snaps last Sunday for the Houston Texans. I understand that Wade Phillips is grooming him but with a performance like that, he should have been out there more. Mercilus was a very fiery player who was taken in the first round of last years draft. Whitney dropped a little in the draft process because of his size, but he showed no problems this week. Mercilus is becoming a great player and will learn a lot from that already stacked Houston defense.
Expect more series for Mercilus this week, as the Houston Texans take on the Chicago Bears. This could be a very low scoring game, if both defense’s show up this week. It should be interesting to see how Mercilus does against a pretty sorry Bears O-LIne.

In his second year, J.J. Watt has burst on the scene as one of the most disruptive defensive forces in the NFL. The former Wisconsin Badger, and the 11th overall 2011 draft pick, was drafted to make a difference, however, he’s changed the entire landscape. An ideal 3-4 defensive end, Watt demands double teams that sometimes work, but most of the time just get in his way. Defensive...

The Texans came out a little slow after their bye week but they were able to step their game up enough to beat the Buffalo Bills 21-9. This moves the Texans to 7-1 and allows them to maintain their lead in the AFC and AFC South standings.

The Texans and the Bears meet on Sunday night in the most highly touted game of Week 10, a contest before and during which the phrase “possible Super Bowl preview” will be mentioned with great frequency. The Houston Texans hosted Mario Williams and the Buffalo Bills at Reliant Stadium in what was called “Judgment Day” by Williams himself. Williams’ game was nothing to ride home about. He lit up the stat sheet with five tackles, two assists, and one sack. He had his best game of the season for his new team against the Texans. Williams wasn’t impactful and Houston moved the...
Chicago's soft schedule ends this weekend when the Houston Texans come into town, the first of many quality opponents the Bears will face in the second half of the 2012 season.
Houston Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips told the media today that they plan on double teaming Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall on every play.
I think this is a wise decision by Phillips and the Texans since Marshall is one of the Bears’ dangerous players.
In the NFL the best receivers can beat a double team. We’ll see if Marshall is up to the challenge on Sunday...
