Bengals left tackle Andrew Whitworth has agreed to a two-year contract extension which will keep him here through 2015. The sixth-year player has emerged as one of the team’s leaders and also as one of the top tackles in the AFC. He led Pro Bowl fan voting at tackle last year but missed out on his first trip to Hawaii. He gave up only two sacks last year, which both happened in the final minute of losses to Atlanta and Indianapolis. For that, Whitworth was named the team’s MVP by the Cincinnati Pro Football Writers last year. Whitworth signed an extension in 2008. According to NFLPA files, he has a base salary of $3.69 million for this season. Whitworth was the Bengals leader during the lockout as the team’s player representative and was one of the players who organized the workouts at UC in June.
