Bengals LT Andrew Whitworth, who is the team’s NFLPA union rep and a father of 3-day-old twins Sarah and Andrew Jr., took some time this morning to talk with The Enquirer about the NFL and NFLPA agreeing to mediation and what it could mean for ongoing negotiations as the March 3 deadline to work out a Collective Bargaining Agreement and avoid an owners’ lockout looms.
Whitworth also spoke about QB Carson Palmer’s request to be traded from the organization and what he believes led to the request.
Here are some of the highlights of Whitworth’s interview, which will be used as part of a story for Saturday’s paper. The Bengals declined comment for the story, instead leaving any such answers for the league office.
