Over the past three weeks, Tennessee's Chris Johnson has delivered his two best games of the season, as well as his worst. Johnson rushed for 130 yards and one touchdown at Carolina in Week 10, and he gained 190 yards on 23 carries versus Tampa Bay in Week 13 (somehow not scoring). Sandwiched in between those efforts was a 12-carry, 13-yard dud at Atlanta.
The Panthers and Bucs have been the league's most generous teams in terms of fantasy points allowed to running backs (26.9 and 25.3 PPG), whereas the Falcons have been among the stingiest (13.7). So we probably shouldn't get too excited about Johnson's big days, nor should we fret too much about the terrible line at Atlanta. He was basically following the script.
With five weeks remaining on the Titans' schedule, CJ is averaging 3.8 yards per carry, he has just one 20-point fantasy week to his credit, and he's only visited the end zone twice. He ranks 28th in per-game fantasy scoring at his position, and 13...
BEST OF MAXIM
Chris Johnson needs 301 yards over the Titans' final five games to reach 1,000 for the season.
The Titans probably need wins in four out of those five games to reach 10 victories and have a shot at the postseason.
Both milestones would seem to go hand in hand.
Coming off Sunday's 23-17 win over Tampa Bay in which Johnson ran for a season-high 190 yards, the Titans (6-5...
26-year old RB Chris Johnson has been playing a lot better lately for the Titans. In his last three games, Johnson has carried the ball 62 times for 333 yards (5.4 ypc) with 1 TD run. He has also caught 8 passes for 62 yards (7.8 avg) in those three games. Johnson has now played in 11 games for the Titans this year and he has carried the ball 183 times for 699 yards (3.8 ypc...
DEAR MR. FANTASY
This has been one of the most frustrating fantasy football seasons I can remember. It’s been a perfect storm of injuries and players failing to live up to expectations on the field. So, as I look over the rosters of my teams, I thought I would compile the list of the 10 most disappointing NFL fantasy football players for the 2011 season.
Topping the list has to be Tennessee...
Mike: Titans, 23-17. Just when we'd left them for dead after three consecutive blowout losses, the Bills played their most competitive game in a month before ultimately bowing to the Jets. The word you're looking for here is probably "schizophrenic". I think a major key this week is controlling Chris Johnson, who finally got back on track with 190 yards...
Last Week: 12-4
Tennessee @ Buffalo
The Titans have suddenly become relevant again in the AFC Playoff picture. They’re only two games behind the quarterback-needy Texans, and Chris Johnson is finally beginning to emerge from the ashes and perform at the high level he’s displayed throughout his career. Buffalo looked better last [...]
Yes, Bills fans, the season is pretty much done and for most, you won't be able to see Sunday's game as it is blacked out in WNY. However, that doesn't mean you can't get educated about the Titans. Alright, I can't think of a silver lining. I should just start doing a draft or free agent preview. Anyways, its Bills and Titans. This week, we are joined by...
