Chris Kluwe has become one of my favorite athletes.  He’s not afraid to voice his opinion regardless of who likes it or not.  He’s been very vocal in the fight for equality.  Yet so many people seem to ignore him (like the 32 NFL teams)or chastise him.  Several radio hosts have said the reason Kluwe may not be signed yet is because NFL teams may not want to deal with questions they may get every time Kluwe says something that becomes an attention-getter.  Kluwe has made it clear that he doesn’t want to sit in a corner and keep his thoughts and beliefs to himself.  So if he is not being hateful or disrespectful with the things he says why should anyone be critiquing him? It doesn’t matter what side of gay marriage you are on, or any other “political” issue, as long as you are not speaking in a hateful way, it shouldn’t be a reason for anyone, whether they are a public figure or not to be criticized.  Sure it’s ok to disagree but why the big firestorm?  Why resort to hateful lan

Covering the Oakland Raiders Offseason: Free Agency

Check out our 2013 Oakland Raiders E-Book   To say that the Raiders roster will look differently in 2013 is a vast, vast understatement. Of the twenty-six players that will start for the Silver and Black on Sundays, only nine of those will have started at that position last year: Darren McFadden, Denarius Moore, Marcel Reece (if you can even say fullbacks start in the NFL anymore...

Report: Raiders wanted Matt Barkley, settled for Tyler Wilson

According to the National Football Post, the Oakland Raiders were ready to jump on quarterback Matt Barkley in the fourth round of this year’s draft, but the Eagles snatched him up earlier in the round. Although he fell down draft boards, and was only the fourth quarterback selected in April, there remain some talent evaluators who still suggest that Barkley could be the best quarterback...

Sorting Out Oakland’s Secondary Plans

On paper, the 2013 Oakland Raiders’ secondary looks extraordinarily better than what was put on the field in 2012. General Manager Reggie McKenzie did his best in dealing with a salary upheaval and a token of draft picks to put the best talent he could on the field. It took late in the season for him to realize that he had a “secret weapon” and decent cornerback in Phillip...

RB Darren McFadden faces a 'crossroads' year

No one can debate running back Darren McFadden's talent, but he hasn't reached his potential and some are starting to doubt that he ever will. At the 2008 NFL Scouting Combine in , McFadden ran an unofficial time of 4.27 seconds which was second among all running backs at the combine to only Chris Johnson, who ran a 4.24. The Raiders signed McFadden to a six-year, ...

Who Needs to Grow and Who Needs to go for the Raiders in 2013

This season, there’s quite a few Raiders who will have to prove their worth in order to continue donning the silver and black. Here’s a look at a few players in the hot seat. First and foremost, is running back Darren McFadden. Now, McFadden has what it takes to be an NFL star, but he has yet to play a full season. Through six seasons with the Raiders, McFadden has never...

NFL Films' Greg Cosell speaks highly of Raiders' 2013 draft class

Noted evaluator Greg Cosell recently took some time to discuss the AFC West’s draft with Yahoo’s Doug Farrar. Cosell, who does evaluations for NFL Films, had some very positive comments on the new Raider rookies. In particular, he liked the Raiders first round pick DJ Hayden, fourth round pick Tyler Wilson and sixth round pick Latavious Murray. You can hear the entire segment...

Raiders owe JaMarcus Russell another $3 million

According to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Oakland Raiders now owe former quarterback JaMarcus Russell $3 million due a settlement over his rookie contract. Russell was the team’s No. 1 overall draft pick in 2007, signing a 6-year, $68 million contract, and was waived in May 2010 after three unproductive seasons and weight issues. He had been paid $36.4 million...

Raiders wanted Matt Barkley over Tyler Wilson

The Oakland Raiders had their eyes on a mid-round quarterback in last April's draft, and it wasn't Tyler Wilson. According to Len Pasquarelli of the National Football Post, the team was all set to "jump on" USC's Matt Barkley. As we know, the Philadelphia Eagles swooped in and took him away, and their 'fallback option,' Tyler Wilson came aboard. ...

AFC West Over/Under Predictions for 2013

Back in April, I did a piece where I predicted the best and worst case scenarios from a record standpoint for all four AFC West teams. About a month later, Las Vegas released the over/under betting lines for all 32 NFL teams for the 2013 season. Today I’ll take a look at the win totals set by Vegas and give [...]

The 2007 Draft Destroyed the Oakland Raiders

The NFL Draft is a spectacle for various reasons. At the draft, dreams are discovered, money is made, and the groundwork for the future of the NFL is laid out. But, all of that is minuscule in comparison to the entertainment supplied by each and every Oakland Raiders draft pick.  Building teams in the NFL is a lot like taking a test in middle school: you really have to try to...

Raiders to Pay JaMarcus Russell $3 Million This Year

JaMarcus Russell has taken a lot of L’s in his life and during his short NFL career, but his contract wasn’t one of them. The Raiders claimed Russell owed them $9 million, but in the end they will be paying JaMarcus $3 million this year. The Raiders are paying former quarterback JaMarcus Russell close to $3 million in a settlement over his disputed rookie contract, league sources...

OH GOD, IT FEELS SO MUCH. WHAT ARE THESE THINGS IN MY CHEST CAVITY THAT MAKES MY HEART PATTER AND PULSE. IT'S LIKE I'M EXPERIENCE THAT EMOTION THAT ONE TIME WHEN KEVIN GARNETT SAID "THIS IS FOR SOTA" WHERE IT BOTH HURTS AND FEELS SO GOD DAMN GOOD AT THE SAME TIME. MY FACE, IT'S MELTING WITH FEEL!!
