With the first pick in the Zoneblitz Team Blogger Mock Draft, Arrowhead Addict a week or so ago selected quarterback Geno Smith as the top overall selection. That pick was mocked by a couple people who commented on the blog. And I’m pretty sure Patrick Allen, the senior editor at Arrowhead Addict, knew his pick wasn’t the correct one when he made it. But I think I understand at least in part why he did it. The Chiefs have the top pick in the draft this year on the coattails of a terrible 2-14 season. The top pick in the draft is an opportunity to reinvigorate the franchise and the fan base – to give them a reason to believe this season might be different. But with the draft a mere 10 or so hours away, I am already prepared to hate the Chiefs’ draft. Because in all likelihood, if the media reports that have been coming out over the last couple weeks are true, Kansas City will barely be any better after their first pick than they were after trading for Alex Smith shortly after the off...

Chiefs make a mistake by selecting Eric Fisher, another coming?

According to many, the Kansas City Chiefs chose the wrong tackle when they selected Eric Fisher with the first selection of the 2013 NFL Draft. Per WalterFootball.com, Chiefs GM John Dorsey wanted Luke Joeckel while Andy Reid and the coaches were in favor of Fisher. Fisher, Reed, and the other coaches would win out. Fisher was the first non-quarterback to be selected with the...

Kansas City Chiefs select Eric Fisher, Grade: A-

It’s tough to get too excited about Eric Fisher as the No. 1 pick, but it’s a solid fit and fills a need. Fisher may start his career at right tackle if the Chiefs hang on to Branden Albert, but Fisher’s future is definitely on the left side. When you consider what Alex Smith did behind a solid line and a great running game in San Francisco, this could help the Chiefs turn...

Atlanta Falcons Take Washington CB Desmond Trufant With First Round Pick

Anyone that has followed the Falcons the last six years knew that the Falcons were going to make a move in the draft. Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff has made at least one trade in the draft since 2008 and it was no different this year as the Falcons moved up to No. 22 from No. 30 in the first round of the draft to select cornerback Desmond Trufant from the University of...

Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey told the media today that the only thing standing in the way of Brandon Albert being traded to the Dolphins is agreeing on compensation. Chiefs GM Dorsey: trade compensation is the holdup in Albert trade w/Miami. Talks will continue into the night. Time is an issue. — Steve Wyche (@wyche89) April 24, 2013 Dorsey also indicated their...

A Dolphins Draft Wish List

The 2013 draft has to be the most unpredictable draft of the last several years, with few sure things and a whole lot of speculation. It starts from the very top of the draft, where nobody is quite sure what the Kansas City Chiefs will do with the first overall pick and it definitely includes what the Dolphins will do at No. 12.

Chiefs hold No. 1 pick in draft for first time

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The running joke around Kansas City at the end of last season went something like this: "The Chiefs are so bad" - pause for effect - "they can't even stink in the right year." After going 2-14 to match the worst finish in franchise history, the Chiefs will have the top pick in the NFL draft for the first time. But there's no clear...

2013 NFL Mock Draft

Today, I appeared on “Speaking On Sports” to take part in a mock draft with some really cool guys! Myself, along with three others members of the show, were given 8 teams that we were to be the general managers of and we had to decide what the team would do. These types of mock drafts are usually always crazy, but I think our mock draft is one that could get a lot of picks right...
