Before we go any further, I just want to say that this is completely hypothetical. Don’t walk around saying that I told you this is going to happen… but if it does happen then I want all the credit (suck it, Schefter).
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, lets continue.
Without getting into the money aspect yet, a Fitzgerald to the Patriots trade makes too much sense not to acknowledge it. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has always been a huge fan of Fitzgerald, calling him possibly the best wide receiver of all-time before their week 2 match up last season:
“(Fitzgerald) does everything well. He’s a great receiver. He’ll go down as one of the all-time greats. He might end up as the best one ever, I don’t know,” Belichick said. ”You have no idea where he’s going to line up from play to play. He has a very big route tree. He runs all the routes … one route sets up another. It’s very hard to find him. It’s very hard to defend him.” - NFL.com

According to Mike Jurecki Xtra 910 in Phoenix, the New England Patriots have signed free agent safety Adrian Wilson to a three-year contract.

TEMPE, Ariz. The Cardinals no longer have depth issues at inside linebacker. The team signed former Minnesota Viking Jasper Brinkley on Thursday evening, one day after adding former Redskin Lorenzo Alexander.
Brinkley will likely slide into the starting role alongside emerging star Daryl Washington, although Alexander has reportedly been told hell be given a chance to compete for...
Just before I left work today a co-worker interrupted my conversation to tell me that Wes Welker was gone, on his way to Denver. A minute later, thanks to the wonders of twitter, I saw that it was a two-year deal. I became puzzled, wasn’t that what the Pats offered Welker last year, a deal he rejected? I rationalized that Welker surely got two years and $16 million or more...
It looks like Josh Cribbs’ time is up in Cleveland, even though nothing has been made official yet. The kick returner extraordinaire took to Instagram to send his farewell message to the city of Cleveland and it is pretty great.
The collage was accompanied by this one-liner.
It’s been a blessing to be in Cleveland, wishing the best to the city & the Team. If I could stay...
I think there’s a contingent of Patriots Nation, mostly of the female variety, that will be just fine bringing Danny Amendola to New England.
Please at least sign Aqib Talib. Patriots fans really only had three of our own free-agents we cared about re-signing. Can we at least keep one of them?
The Patriots were apparently interested in Sean Smith, but not that much I guess. He just signed with the Chiefs today for three years.
Sean Smith joins the Chiefs on a three-year deal, according to his agent, David...
Running back Rashard Mendenhall has agreed to a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Mendenhall gets a fresh start after falling out of favor in Pittsburgh, and Arizona is a good landing spot for him to get his career back on track as they are among the most RB-needy teams in the NFL. Will have good chance to start in 2013, and...
Wes Welker may be hooking up with a future Hall of Fame QB after all.
The former New England Patriots standout wide receiver is in “serious talks” with the Denver Broncos today, the second day of free agency, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. The team reportedly wants to “hammer out a deal” with the All-Pro slot receiver.
Welker, 31, had 118 catches for 1,354 yards last year...
So, Danny Amendola wasn’t a reaction to Wes Welker‘s exit, after all.
According to Tom E. Curran, the Patriots and the former Rams receiver agreed to the five-year deal on Tuesday — not Wednesday when the signing was leaked. That being said, Curran believes that the Pats had likely already moved on from Welker and went after Amendola when No. 83 went on the market.
The easy thing is not always the right thing. That is the hardest part about running a successful NFL franchise. Unless you’re Bill Belichick, that is.
The hoodie and his minions — and/or staff — have always been very much about putting the business first. While some teams add players to try and liven up their fan base or re-sign guys based off emotion and sentimentalism, Belichick...
The makeover continues.
The Patriots have made their next move to shore up their receiving corps, adding former Bills wide receiver Donald Jones, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

New return man for the Patriots Leon Washington snaps a picture of himself via instagram with the quote #Blessed. Lets Go #Pats.
New England is well on their way to filling the Wes Welker void. They first acquired slot receiver Danny Amendola, and have now got their return game in place with Leon Washington. The Patriots have a history of making good with New York Jets leftovers...
