The statistics are not pretty. The Patriots have just six sacks, which is tied for 25th in the league. Their pass defense has struggled, and it doesn’t seem like the front four has helped much. Once again against the Raiders, there were no sacks and just three quarterback hits. Yet, as I wrote last week, there was a thought among the pass-rushers that they are doing pretty well — seriously. Today on a conference call, Patriots defensive line coach Pepper Johnson spoke to us, and he sounded like his players.  Johnson described himself as “more than” satisfied with what the product they have put on the field. That, I’d say, was surprising. But should it be? Bill Belichick feels the same way. What does Johnson think of the pass-rush? Is he satisfied? “Yes, I’m more that satisfied,” Johnson said. “I’m quite sure that the question is more from stats and not really detail-watching of the game.
