Much is being said about the fact the Heinz Field faithful booed Mike Wallace after another dropped pass clanged off his hands early during Sunday’s 34-24 loss to San Diego. Chances were good that Wallace would have taken it to the house on the play, so the drop cost the Steelers some much needed offensive performance. Why shouldn’t fans boo poor performance? Wallace wants paid like a top receiver yet seems to have one or two awful drops in every game. The fact he ended the day with a strong stat line doesn’t excuse the fact he made a crucial mistake while the game was still competitive. Garbage time stats are never the same as crunch time stats other than on paper. When did we get so soft as a society that we are being told not to boo professional athletes? Are we afraid of hurting their massive egos? Are we afraid it will cause them mental anguish? Excuse me if I go boo hoo right about now.The bottom line is that the NFL is an entertainment industry that happens to center around pla...

Reasons Why The Steelers Are Unlikely To Release Rashard Mendenhall

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Tuesday that they have suspended running back Rashard Mendenhall for one game for conduct detrimental to the team. Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported a short time after that he was told the detrimental conduct was Mendenhall failing to show up at Heinz Field on Sunday for the game against the San Diego Chargers after being told...

DeCastro Set To Make First Career Start Against Cowboys

On Tuesday Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed during his press conference that left guard Willie Colon had surgery on his left knee on Monday. The injury is expected to sideline Colon for the rest of the season. With Colon now sidelined rookie guard David DeCastro will get the opportunity in practice this week to show that he can play. Tomlin said that the plan...

What is the mindset of the Steelers with 3 regular season games to go?

What exactly is the mindset of the 2012 Pittsburgh Steelers, now with just 3 games left on the schedule and the playoffs getting closer by the day? Are they truly a confident team like we always hear them talk about, or is there some doubt in the locker room with their identity and what they are capable of? It would be hard to blame them if there are doubts about the game plan every...

Steelers playoff hopes alive but if they keep playing this poorly it won’t matter

The Steelers continue to receive gift after gift from the rest of the NFL. Even the loss today at Heinz Field, 34-24 to the lowly Chargers still leaves them in control of the 6th seed in the playoffs by virtue of the Ravens and Bengals both losing. I’ve said it many times this year, if the Steelers have 9 lives they are burning through at a rapid pace. As Mike Tomlin said in his...

Steelers Lack of Urgency is Alarming

Earlier this season, Pittsburgh Steelers’ safety Ryan Clark suggested that perhaps many of his teammates had become too complacent and had an expectation of winning by just walking on the field. I saw some truth in his concerns then but now his statements could not be more accurate and they start with Mike Tomlin. Apparently the loss in Oakland wasn’t enough to awaken this team...

Steelers Versus Chargers Game Rewind – First Half Notes – Week 14

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the San Diego Chargers Sunday 34-24 and below are my first half notes from the game with the second half notes to follow soon. The quick screen to Mike Wallace on the first play was an excellent call to get Ben Roethlisberger an easy first throw and Wallace involved in the game early. I called for such a thing in my pregame 7 keys article as well...

Steelers Injury Report: LaMarr Woodley Works Fully; Cortez Allen, Keenan Lewis Sidelined

The Pittsburgh Steelers started their practice preparations on Wednesday for their Sunday road game against the Dallas Cowboys and the first injury report is now out. As expected, cornerback Ike Taylor (ankle), tackle Mike Adams (ankle), and guard Willie Colon (knee) did not practice and all three have already been ruled out for the game. With Colon out, Ramon Foster will shift...

Report: Colon To Have Surgery On Monday, Roster Moves Likely Forthcoming

Last night Gerry Dulac reported that left guard Willie Colon might be done for the season after suffering a left knee injury during the second quarter of the loss Sunday to the San Diego Chargers and on Wednesday Jory Rand of KDKA-TV reports via Twitter that Colon is having surgery on Monday. https://twitter.com/JoryRand/status/278193529841405952 This all adds up to Colon being...

Steelers suspend Rashard Mendenhall for one game

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-gazette, the Steelers have suspended running back Rashard Mendenhall for one game, for conduct detrimental to the team. https://twitter.com/EdBouchette/status/278641981436071936 Mendenhall was recently to third string and I’m sure he’s not too happy about that, which has led to this suspension.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI ...

Willie Colon could be out for rest of the season

If it isn't one thing, it's another as the Steelers will likely lose left guard Willie Colon with a knee injury, accordingly to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Just as the Steelers were looking to get healthy on offense with the return of Ben Roethlisberger, problems on the offensive line jeopardizes the chances of keeping their quarterback healthy.

Steelers LG Colon lost for season

Pittsburgh Steelers starting left guard Willie Colon is done for the season after reinjuring his left knee during Sunday's 34-24 home loss to the San Diego Chargers. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that All-Pro center Maurkice Pouncey will move over to left guard and Doug Legursky will take over at center. Rookie David DeCastro is also an option at left guard.

Steelers LB Woodley new owner in PBA league

LaMarr Woodley is trading football cleats for bowling shoes. The Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker is among the new owners involved in the PBA's Professional Bowling League that kicks off in the Detroit suburbs next month. Former Steelers running back Jerome Bettis, former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens and Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul are also part of the new...

Steelers Might Not Be Able To Dress All Five Wide Receivers Against Cowboys

The Pittsburgh Steelers dressed five wide receivers last week against the San Diego Chargers for the first time this season as Jerricho Cotchery was able to return to action after missing the previous two games with busted  ribs, but that might not happen this week against the Dallas Cowboys thanks to injuries at other positions. Head coach Mike Tomlin was asked during his press...

The Steelers Will Still Sell You A 2010 Team Yearbook

I was inspired by a few tweets from twoeightnine yesterday, showing some pretty crappy items available from the Buffalo Bills online shop (1, 2). What junk is still available from our hometown Steelers? Like, get your monies out now, cos here's a 2010-11 Steelers yearbook for only $2.95. I hope Matt Spaeth wrote for you to call him this summer, miss u xxoo. And Arnaz Battle...
