Found October 13, 2011 on Dave Krieg's Strike Beard:
One of the few things putting a bit of a damper on the Seahawks' bye week is the fact that the Niners are 4-1. Given recent history, it's understandable to think that if the Niners don't stop winning soon, the Seattle's playoff chances are kaput no matter how many wins the Hawks string together. Of course we should all root for the 49ers to start losing (getting beaten down in Detroit Sunday would be a nice start), but even if they don't, the Seahawks' playoff hopes won't die any time soon. Seattle hasn't qualified for the post-season as a Wild Card team since 2003, and the NFC West hasn't sent multiple teams to the playoffs since 2004, but this is starting to look like a year where the Hawks have more than one path to post-season play. At 2-3, Seattle is only one game out of the final playoff spot in the NFC. In terms of possible tiebreakers, they've lost to Atlanta and beaten NYG- Coming up they will play a TON of other possible Wild Card co...

None of Ruskell's first-rounders remain Seahawks

For all the changes to the Seahawks roster last year -- and there were nearly 300 of them -- it wasn't until this year that Seattle cut ties with some of the players picked to be cornerstones under former president Tim Ruskell.First, Seattle made no real effort to re-sign center Chris Spencer, who left for Chicago as a free agent. Then, the Seahawks traded cornerback Kelly Jennings...

Raiders agree to pick up Seahawks LB Aaron Curry

The Raiders agreed to acquire linebacker Aaron Curry from Seattle on Wednesday, two years after the Seahawks selected him fourth overall in the draft.

Seahawks make it official: Linebacker Aaron Curry traded to Oakland

Seahawks will get a pick in 2012 draft and another in 2013 from Raiders in exchange for linebacker Aaron Curry.

Bye Week Called on Account of Illness

This week in Seahawks-related news, the axe finally dropped on Aaron Curry, Gil Brandt said something incredibly dumb, and that lazy slug who runs Seahawk Addicts ended up taking the week off because he was sick or something.  I'll put up a general purpose discussion thread for anyone who wants to talk about the games on Sunday, and by Monday I should be back to it with a look...

Don't expect too much from Seattle WR

Doug Baldwin undoubtedly is a big part of the Seahawks' offense — and a growing part. But his contributions have an expiration date, and that date is not far into the future.

Seahawks claim rookie Allen Bradford off waivers from Bucs

John Boyle of the Everett Herald reports that the Seahawks have claimed running back Allen Bradford off waivers from the Buccaneers. Bradford, a sixth-round pick in April’s draft, is a 5-foot-11, 242-pound power back prospect from USC. He was recruited by and played for Seahawks coach Pete Carroll with the Trojans. Bradford spent the first…

No Tim Ruskell first-round picks remain in Seattle

Drafting poorly is the quickest way to sink a struggling franchise. There is little debate over whether Tim Ruskell drafted poorly or not while he was President of the Seahawks.  Only nine players remain from the 2005-2009 drafts when Ruskell was in charge.  The best player among them? Probably Brandon Mebane. Danny O’Neil of the…

Allen Bradford claimed off waivers by Seahawks

Running back Allen Bradford, released by the Bucs on Thursday to make room for Jackson, has been claimed off waivers by the Seahawks and coach Pete Carroll, Bradford's college coach at USC. The Bucs had hoped to sign Bradford to their practice squad had he cleared waivers. They are thin at running back with LeGarrette Blount not expected to play this week, leaving just two tailbacks...

Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll Says LB Aaron Curry Trade Isn't Final Yet

The Aaron Curry era in Seattle is nearly over, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer was the first to report that the Seahawks agreed to trade Curry to the Raiders Wednesday. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen tweeted that the Raiders will give the Seahawks a 7th round draft pick in the 2012 and a conditional mid-round pick in 2013. But hold your horses… Carroll was...

Second helping of Curry

Okay, word is that the Seahawks are not expecting to have comments or statements on the Aaron Curry situation today. The understanding here is that the terms of a trade with Oakland are agreed upon, but must be approved by the league. It is possible things could come together and be made official tonight. Speculation is that the Seahawks will receive a low pick in the next draft...

Raiders' deal for LB Curry complete

The Oakland Raiders acquired linebacker Aaron Curry from the Seattle Seahawks, though it's unclear if the former first-round pick will play this weekend.
