BROOKLYN, MI - JUNE 14: (L-R) Kid Rock speaks with Jim Schwartz, Head Coach of the National Football League's Detroit Lions, at a press conference prior to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LifeLock 400 at Michigan International Speedway on June 14, 2009 in Brooklyn, Michigan. With the wild and crazy offseason that the Detroit Lions have gone through they sign their coach that has changed their team and franchise around. The season before Schwartz was hired the Lions went 0-16. He improved in wins every year and he eventually took the Lions to the playoffs last season where they lost to the New Orleans Saints. Schwartz agreed to a multi-year extension. This move isn’t the biggest news that the Lions have made this offseason. They also signed star wideout Calvin Johnson to a huge deal but that isn’t even that big of a deal, it’s all the arrest that have taken place. The Lions have had six arrest this offseason involving four different players. Maybe the thing that the Lions organization should be worrying about is their teams image rather extending coach’s deals. If the coach can’t control his players off the field, how can he on it? It seems since the Jim Schwartz era has begun in Detroit the team has changed, yes the do win but they look like a very undisciplined group. First off starting with Jim Schwartz altercation with 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, then Ndamukong Suh stomping on a Packers Offensive Lineman during a Thanksgiving day game and now the six arrest. Who really knows if Schwartz is the right guy in Detroit.
