For a guy who wasn’t sure he would even make the 53-man roster when training camp started at the end of July in Bourbonnais, Hunter Hillenmeyer had a pretty amazing season.
The seven-year veteran from Vanderbilt began the season as the Bears’ No. 5 or 6 linebacker. He was behind starters Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs and Pisa Tinoisamoa, plus Nick Roach, who won the starting strong-side job from him midway through last season. Then there was also Jamar Williams, a four-year veteran who had been considered a starter-in-waiting for a couple years.
