Leonard Hankerson could be poised for a big season Rich Tandler of Comcast Sports Net found a site named Rotoviz.com. They are a fantasy football site that is projecting which 3rd year wide receivers will break out this year. They are using yards per target and compared that with 2nd year wide receivers who made that jump in the past from year 2 to year 3. The site thinks that Leonard Hankerson will break out this year and Rich agrees, sayiing Hank passes the eye and stat test, which I too have argued all off-season with other Redskins fans, telling them we don’t need to draft or sign a wide receiver. Pro Football Focus said that Hankerson had only four drops while being targeted 59 times. By comparison, Santana Moss had six drops while being targeted 64 targets. When Hank came into the NFL, he’s been reported as saying he didn’t realize the hard work and dedication it to took to make it in the NFL, as most young players don’t. Then, on top of that, his hip injury set him back in his rookie year and 2nd off-season after not having a full off-season in 2011 because of the owner’s locking the players out. If he focuses on the little things and gets truly polished as a WR, with better routes and more chemistry with Robert Griffin III or Kirk Cousins, this could be a special year for Hank. Here is the article from Rotoviz that discusses their breakout WR candidates. It’s all there for ya. Enjoy! They used the Eric Decker article which they quoted to show Hakeem Nicks, Jordy Nelson, and Dwayne Bowe as what you want a number one WR to look like physically and athletically. The thing is, Hankerson has those same qualities. Remember, in 2011 Hankerson became the first Redskins rookie receiver to top 100 yards in a game since 2001. Last season he hauled in 43 receptions for 543 yards, 3rd on the team behind veterans Joshua Morgan and Moss. He has the size and athleticism to become a true impact player. He also has RG3, one of the best and most accurate young quarter backs in the NFL. So here is your notice. Leonard Hankerson should be on your radar screen for having a breakout year.
