The Redskins received the greatest news of the off-season so far when they found out that quarterback Robert Griffin III is expected to be ready for the Redskins season opener. If "RGIII" makes a return by week one he will be on the level with Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson as far as recovering from a serious knee injury. Peterson exploded in 2012, to have the best season of his career, and win the MVP award after a devastating injury to end the 2011 season.Griffin III had an award winning season to taking home top rookie honors with his performance in 2012 while leading the Redskins to the NFC East Division Championship with a 10-6 record. The Redskins were on a role winning their last seven games including the division winner against the Dallas Cowboys 28-18 during their week 17 season ending game. The win streak ended the following week 24-14 in the NFC wild-card round of the playoffs to the Seattle Seahawks.During the season Griffin III put up amazing numbers for a team not expected to do much to start the season by completing 65.6 percent of his passes for 3,200 yards, and 20 touchdowns. He was also the second leading rusher for the Redskins with 815 yards and 7 touchdowns on 120 carries.During the loss against the Seahawks in the playoffs; it was clear that the season had took it's toll on Griffin III. He completed 10-19 passes for 84 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception; and only had 5 carries for 21 yards, and a fumble before he was knocked out of the game with the gruesome tackle that finished off the knee.Even if Griffin III is not ready for the season opener; Kirk Cousins showed that he was a solid player when he is needed by completing 68.8 percent of his passes for 466 yards and 4 touchdowns during 3 games last season. The only downfall to Cousins; he turns the ball over at a high rate with 3 interceptions, and 1 fumble. As long as Griffin III sticks to his training program, and reaches out for help from other athletes that have suffered the similar injury; the Redskins should not have anything to worry about. Maybe Griffin III can even sweep; Comeback Player of the Year, MVP, and Offensive Player of the Year.
