With the recent re-signing of safety James Ihedigbo by the New England Patriots, many are wondering if they will bring back defensive end Andre Carter as well. Carter led the team in sacks in a season cut short by a quadriceps injury. He had ten sacks in a Pro Bowl season, four of which came in one game to tie the franchise record for sacks in a game. Carter would be able to provide leadership to the Patriots first-round draft pick and fellow defensive end Chandler Jones, but he can also be an asset as a pass rusher. The deal would be a win-win for both sides, as Carter enjoyed his time in New England and the Patriots could use him in a potential discount deal coming off an injury. Carter’s agent made comments in February that indicated he was looking to return to the Patriots. Many feel that it is only a matter of time before the two sides announce a deal. Given the pressure Carter brought for the Patriots’ opponents and the presence of Jones, the two could provide the pas...

Vince Wilfork interception among National Football League's top defensive plays of 2011

Vince Wilfork is the heart and soul of the New England Patriots defense. His sheer size necessitates double-teams from opposing offensive lines and opens up pass-rushing lanes for his teammates. Most of his contributions involve taking on bodies and stuffing the run. However, he made a couple of flashy interceptions in the 2011 season. One of his efforts was named one of the...

New England Patriots looking at veteran running back

The New England Patriots are loaded at the wide receiver and tight end positions but there are plenty of questions surrounding the Patriots’ back field heading into the 2012 regular season. According to the Boston Herald, the Patriots might have some interest in bringing back a former teammate, veteran RB Sammy Morris. The departure of RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis created a void in...

New England Patriots: 2012 Fantasy Football Preview

Over the last decade, the New England Patriots have given fantasy owners a plethora of players that can bring home a fantasy championship; 2012 is no different. With Josh McDaniels back as the team’s offensive coordinator, the fantasy statistics should not take a decline from last year’s outstanding results. It is no shock that the Patriots’ offense can light up opposing...

Sammy Morris unlikely to sign with Patriots

Veteran running back Sammy Morris has spoken with the Patriots about a possible return, but it does not appear likely he'll be joining the team. As the Patriots do every offseason, the bring guys in, lead guys out; training camp fodder, due diligence, whatever you want to call it. A spate of injuries could land him here, he knows the system, but it's a long shot. ...
