The biggest story this off season on the field was QB Peyton Manning playing in Denver.  There is a sense of irony that the biggest story off the field was “BountyGate” which featured the Saints who are based out of New Orleans.  The same Louisiana city were you can walk the garden district to see the house where Peyton and his younger brother Eli, current New York Giant QB, grew up with father and legendary Saints QB, Archie Manning.  As far as homes in New Orleans go, it seems a lot of current Saints staff and players may be spending more time at their homes that than football field due to suspensions levied by the NFL. In addition to the forfeiture of their 2nd round pick in the 2012 draft (and possibly 2013 as well), Saints past and present were subdued by suspension.  Former Defensive Coordinator and potential Rams Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams is suspended indefinitely.  Head Coach Sean Payton and LB Jonathan Vilma are suspended for the year.  GM Mickey Loomis , Assistant Head Coach Joe Vitt, and former DE Anthony Hargrove (now a Packer) will serve 8 games each while DE Will Smith and LB Scott Fujita (now a Brown) will serve 4 and 3 games respectively.  On top of all the missing participation incurred here, the Saints also found themselves at odds in contract negotiation with franchise QB Drew Brees late into the preseason.  For members of the ‘Who Dat’ nation who thought it couldn’t get any worse, just keep in mind that it almost did.
