The Cardinals-Steelers connection continues to grow as cornerback William Gay signed a two-year contract with Arizona. Gay started 15 games for the NFL’s No. 1 pass defense in 2011.
Pittsburgh drafted Gay in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. In 2009, Gay became a starter, replacing cornerbacks Bryant McFadden and Deshea Townsend who had left for free agency.
Gay lost his starting job in 2010, but bounced back to have his best season last year making two interceptions. He has appeared in all 80 games since he entered the league including 37 starts. Arizona projects to play Gay in the nickel package in 2012.
William Gay will become at least the seventh player to play for Arizona after not being retained by Pittsburgh. Not to mention, the Cardinals have five coaches on their staff, including Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt, who once coached or played for the Steelers, and Larry Fitzgerald played his college ball in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh will have a competition for their other star...
