And although concussions in the NFL this season clearly are no laughing matter, the Tennessee Titans defensive end said there has been humor found in his situation. And it has been very much at his expense. Hayes was on the sideline not wearing his helmet Sunday when an errant pass by Titans quarterback Kerry Collins hit him in the head. "I thought somebody threw something out of the stands and hit me with it," Hayes told John Glennon of the Tennessean. "I didn't know I got hit with a football until Jason Jones told me."
