Right guard Bobbie Williams, who has been a staple of the Bengals’ offensive line since he signed with the team in 2004, was placed on injured reserve after he broke his right ankle during the first half of Sunday’s 20-19 loss to Houston. In Williams eight seasons with the Bengals, this will mark the first time he will miss games due to a football-related injury. He missed three games in 2006 due to rehab from an appendectomy he underwent and then was out for four games this year as he served a four-game suspension due to a violation of the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing substances when he took a diuretic. Williams has started all 118 games he has played with the Bengals. Mike McGlynn, who the Bengals got on waivers from Philadelphia before the season started, is the favorite to take over the position.
