Linebacker D.J. Williams is on track to make his 2012 debut Sunday against San Diego after the Denver Broncos put him on their 53-man roster Saturday. Williams returned to practice this week after serving two NFL-mandated suspensions that cost him nine games and about $4 million. On Friday, coach John Fox said Williams had looked good in practice all week ''and he's a guy we would definitely consider to be active for the game.'' If he plays Sunday, he'll likely play in sub packages and on special teams. Williams was suspended six games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs and three games for an alcohol-related arrest. The Broncos had a roster exemption for Williams but already had a spot open after waiving safety Duke Ihenacho on Tuesday.

Broncos’ Doom questionable, Kuper doubtful

Sounds like Broncos‘ defensive end Elvis Dumervil will be a game-time decision this weekend. “He was limited,”  Coach John Fox told the team’s official website. “I think we’ll play it day to day and I’m sure we probably won’t have a final decision until about an hour and a half before kickoff.” Meanwhile, cornerback Tracy Porter (illness) has been ruled out and...

John Elway says his responsibility is to win championships in Denver

Denver Broncos executive vice president of football operations John Elway told USA Today Sports that he’s uses everyone who doubts him as motivation to build a championship team. “I’ve never wanted to disappoint anybody that’s entrusted a position on me, whether it was as a player, or the role I’m in now. That’s the challenge, and that’s what makes me tick – that...

(6-3) Denver Broncos vs (4-5) San Diego Chargers

Another great divisional match up for football fans features an AFC West show down in San Diego, where the (4-5) Chargers welcome Peyton Manning and the division leading (6-3) Broncos to town. The first game was an instant classic, where the Broncos came from way behind at the half to steal one at home. Manning trailed 24-0, before scoring 35 unanswered points as they stunned the...

San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos: Five Things We Learned

It was an odd sight when the Denver Broncos took to the field in hosting the San Diego Chargers in a key AFC West battle in mid-November. Instead of a somewhat typical November day with cold, possible snow and other inclement weather, the temperature at game time was 62 degrees and sunny. For Denver, they wanted to extend their winning streak to five and take complete control in...

Chargers fall further behind Broncos, lose 30-23

Even the San Diego Chargers are saying it: the Denver Broncos are playing solitaire in the AFC West now. ''We can't hang our hat on Denver doing anything from a collapsing standpoint,'' quarterback Philip Rivers said after the Chargers' 30-23 loss Sunday dropped them three games behind the Broncos, who essentially own a four-game cushion by virtue of their...

San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos: Week 11 NFL Pick

San Diego Chargers (4-5) at Denver Broncos (6-3) In my Power Rankings this week I joked, “Why does it feel like the Chargers are going to lose to Denver, fall to 4-6, and then go on their annual late season run, finish 8-8 or 9-7, miss the playoffs barely, and save Norv Turner’s and AJ Smith’s jobs? Oh, that’s right, that happens every year.” Well, I’m not so sure that...
