Willie Parker gets his turn in the running back rotation Friday night against the New York Jets at New Meadowlands Stadium. Clinton Portis started the preseason opener against Buffalo, Larry Johnson opened with the first-team offense against Baltimore and now Parker will have an opportunity to impress coaches. Although Coach Mike Shanahan has made no announcements, it appears Portis has done nothing to lose his position in the preseason. He was listed atop the first depth chart that was released and seems to have solidified his position with steady, albeit brief, performances in the first two games. Johnson is still second on the depth chart, but he was not productive in last week's blowout loss to the Ravens. Coaches evaluate practice as well games, and reporters are permitted to only watch a small portion of practice once training camp ends, so perhaps Johnson has looked great in practice.
