Wilson has tough task of replacing Revis for Jets

Associated Press  |  Last updated September 27, 2012
Darrelle Revis is likely gone for the season with a knee injury, and Kyle Wilson has the tough task of replacing the All-Pro cornerback for the New York Jets. The rest of Rex Ryan's defense will need to step up in a big way, too, starting Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine says no one can ''just step in and replace a Darrelle Revis,'' but the Jets are counting on Wilson - their first-round pick in 2010 - to do a good job in his place. Pettine says the Jets won't make any major changes on defense without Revis, rather the differences will be ''more subtle.'' Wilson has tried to take the promotion in stride, downplaying the pressure of replacing arguably the NFL's best defensive player. --- Online: http://pro32.ap.org/poll and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL
