This is probably the best way to summarize everything we're paying attention to this week: Phil Wilson's article on the Colts's week 6 storylines. The injury debate, the Wayne/Cromartie matchup, the Jets's QB debacle - you name it. About Reggie: Wayne is expected to be covered by Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who blanketed Houston Pro Bowl star Andre Johnson Monday. Targeted six times, Johnson had one catch and Cromartie picked off a pass. But what about? ... Top corners are the norm for Wayne. He drew Packers cornerback Charles Woodson and caught 13 passes for a career-high 212 yards and the game-winning TD.Why yes; yes he did. This leads me to my favorite headline this week, curtesy of the Courier Journal: Veteren receiver Reggie Wayne becomes leader for the Colts. Here's the thing; before last Sunday, there were a lot of leaders on that offense, and picking one who stood out was nearly impossible. Justice? Avery? Linkenbach? The list goes on. But here, ho...

The Real Impact of Beating the Packers for a Young Colts Team

Watching the Indianapolis Colts defeat the Green Bay Packers in Week 5 of the 2012 NFL season should be etched in the memories of all Colts fans. The importance of the victory expands well beyond the impressive individual performances of players like Andrew Luck and Reggie Wayne. It expands well beyond the importance of a 50/50 record for the team's chances to find its way into...

CROMARTIE'S CORNER: Stepping up in Revis' Absence

IN THE ABSENCE OF STARS DARRELLE REVIS AND SANTONIO HOLMES, ANTONIO CROMARTIE LEAVES HIS IMPRESSION ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- With Revis Island closed for renovations that has meant Cromartie's Corner is on shutdown status. For the Jets, that's exactly what they need from their big-mouth, bigger play-making cornerback/wide receiver. Just to recap...

Cromartie stepping up for Jets in Revis' absence

Antonio Cromartie might have been right, after all. When Darrelle Revis when down for the season with a knee injury a few weeks ago, the New York Jets cornerback said he was the best cornerback in the NFL. Cromartie has lived up to his bold declaration, stepping up in Revis' place and shutting down the likes of Houston's Andre Johnson, San Francisco's Michael Crabtree...

For Defense, No Answers, No Turnovers

Dom Capers' defense has been a turnover-producing machine but that hasn't been the case this season. On Sunday at Indianapolis, the Packers wasted three potential takeaways on one series alone. Without turnovers, Andrew Luck and Reggie Wayne tore them to shreds.

Expect trouble for Green, Wayne

Additional Harmon Rankings: RB , TE/DEF The 82-yard toss and catch from Roethlisberger to Wallace was a thing of beauty. Fantasy owners hoped to see at least one more in the second half of the game. Alas, Wallace would record only one more catch for 12 yards. His counterpart, Kenny Britt, struggled to corral multiple passes, but he did exhibit great concentration to record his...

New York Jets: Three Reasons They Can Salvage Their Season

Watching the game last night I saw a New York Jets team that I haven't seen in over a year. It was the team that refused to quit. Take that, Carlos Rogers! I am not suggesting that the Jets have had any type of rebirth or are on their way to the playoffs, but what I saw last night excited me. There are three good reasons that the New York Jets will salvage a season and stay ...

Jets fight, but come up short vs. Houston, 23-17

The New York Jets showed some resilience Monday night while many were expecting the type of beat down that the San Francisco 49ers inflicted upon them last week. But playing at home and pride go a long way when your back is against the wall. The Jets, who have lost arguably the two biggest stars on the team, Darrelle Revis and Santonio Holmes for the season, put together some fight...

The Jets need to refuel their engines

At this point the Jets have no answers on offense at all. Tebow or Sanchez? Where’s first round pick from a few years ago in Shonne Greene. Santonio Holmes was their best offensive weapon and he’s done for the season. I think Antonio Cromartie was right when he said he was the second best receiver on the team. He beat Johnathan Joseph badly on a stop and go route on Monday...
