Dan Marino remembers all sorts of details about his first start as an NFL rookie - the early interceptions, the disappointing finish, the opposing quarterback, even the novel pep talk he received from a veteran teammate shortly before kickoff.
Marino recalls safety Lyle Blackwood telling him, '''If you play bad, we're going to lose.'''
Marino laughed as he related the anecdote Tuesday for the Miami Dolphins Touchdown Club. The Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback was an appropriate choice as guest speaker, because the Dolphins are turning to a rookie quarterback again this season.
On Sunday at Houston, Ryan Tannehill will become the first Miami quarterback to start an opener as a rookie.

It is sort of sad that the best part of Hard Knocks comes from a player that isn’t even on the roster anymore. Regardless of what you think about what happened in the domestic incident between Chad Johnson and Evelyn Lozada, you can’t deny that Johnson in entertaining.
He seems to be taking responsibility for everything and not laying the blame on anyone else. More than anything...
DAVIE, Fla. The more Davone Bess talks, the more the number increases.
I want to get back to 70, to 80, 90, possibly 100 catches, the Dolphins wide receiver says of his expectations for this season.
Wait a minute. Catch 100 balls?
Thats something that never has been done in Miamis 46-year history, and nobody has come all that close. The team record is 90 by O.J. McDuffie in 1998...

2011 in a Nutshell: 6-10
It was a tale of two seasons for the Dolphins in 2011, an 0-7 start had the fans experiencing bad memories of 2007 where they went 1-15. Post Halloween saw a major change in fortunes for the Dolphins as they went 6-3 and gave their fans something to celebrate. Head coach Tony Sparano was fired after a week 14 loss to Philadelphia and according to many, not...
Miami Dolphins linebacker Kevin Burnett is sidelined by a foot injury, raising doubts about his availability for Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
Burnett was added to the injury report Thursday, when he did not practice. He missed much of training camp with a back injury but started the Dolphins' first two games.
Reserve defensive tackle Tony McDaniel (knee) and...
There are a few things that might stand out from this years edition of Hard Knocks featuring the Miami Dolphins. Maybe it was Ryan Tannehill’s wife, or his phone number, but most likely it was Chad Johnson, even though he was off the team before we could all get used to him in teal. His [...]

Peter King dangles an interesting proposal for us in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated. As you know, Dan Marino held the single season passing record of 5,084 yards for 26 years, until this past season.Suddenly he is merely one of four QBs to have surpassed the 5,000 yard plateau, that had seemed virtually unattainable for so long. And, Eli Manning came up only 34 yards short...
