The New York Jets select..
The 2012 NFL Draft is less than one month away and it’s the biggest news surrounding the New York Jets besides Tim Tebow. And since I’m all Tebow’ed out (even though it’s only going to get worse during as the season comes closer), I figured we should take some time to talk about the upcoming draft. The New York Jets control the 16th overall pick, which has the potential to provide some excellent value to a franchise that is certainly in need of a resurgence.
The Jets have multiple positional needs and directions that they could take with the 16th pick in the draft. It’s widely speculated that the Jets will look to add a pass rusher to bolster the team’s front seven, likely at the outside linebacker position. However, the Jets also have other needs at the safety position, wide receiver and on the offensive line. There have been mumblings that the Jets might heavily consider Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd if he’s available at the 16th spot, which would certainly help add depth at WR. In my opinion, the Jets should draft the highest valued player at the 16th spot, regardless of what position it’s at (excluding cornerback, QB, center, left tackle). The Jets have holes in almost every single spot on the field, so there is really no reason to downgrade the pick to fill a positional need, when the franchise can select a higher value player at another position of “lesser need”. The Jets need help in the draft and it has to be an impactful draft class!
Enough of the speculation though, who do YOU want the Jets to draft? What position should the Jets attempt to address and why? Sound off in the comments and let us know!
