To be voted as the best amongst your peers is a great reward and comes with honor. After all, they are the ones who have to play with/against every week in the NFL. Not the "experts" we see on ESPN ranking NFL players, at least the players have credibility. With that being saying, Charles Woodson--a future hall of fame player--wasn't quite when he was mentioning who he thinks is the best corner in the league. And I'll give you a hint, it's not Revis or Sherman. Listening to Charles Woodson on @nflnetwork, asked who is the best CB in @NFL: Aqib Talib. “As cornerbacks go, he’s the best in the league” — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 23, 2013 A pretty shocking statement to say the least, after all. Talib has played amazing all season, but to already be considered ahead of the general favorites for best corner with Sherman and Revis is certainly a bold statement. One things for sure, we're hoping Talib can return back to the playing field and continue...

Raiders Sign Martez Wilson: What Does He Bring to Oakland?

The Raiders announced late last evening that they had signed OLB Martez Wilson, recently cut by the Saints so they could sign QB Ryan Griffin, and waived DT Christo Bilukidi. Bilukidi’s cut comes as a surprise after being drafted in the sixth round last year by McKenzie. Reggie has shown a tendency to cut players, even those that he drafted, if it means that the team is improving...

Oakland Raiders claim DE/OLB Martez Wilson off the waivers from the Saints

Today the Oakland Raiders claimed former DE/OLB Martez Wilson from the waiver wire.  Wilson was a former 3rd round pick from the New Orleans Saints.  Wilson is a former standout pass rusher who is very raw.  The Illinois product will be a huge pick up for the Raiders. The No. 72 overall pick in the 2011 […]

Andre Carter, Jamie Collins Can Help Boost Pass Rush on Third Down and Other Patriots Thoughts

FOXBORO, Mass. — It would not be wise to expect Andre Carter to play at the same level he exhibited in 2011 with the Patriots. But the veteran pass rusher could be a boost to an already decent pass rush in New England. Carter was not a highly sought-out free agent when the Patriots picked him up in 2011. He was coming off a season with just 2 1/2 sacks in five starts with the...

Logan Ryan fined $10K for grabbing crotch during touchdown

Just a few days after grabbing his crotch while celebrating a touchdown, Logan Ryan will be grabbing his wallet, as he’s scheduled to shell out some serious dough for the act. Ryan, who picked off Jets quarterback Geno Smith and returned for a touchdown in the Patriots’ loss to their division rivals, celebrated the feat by jumping backward into the end zone and grabbing at his...

Is Chandler Jones playing at a Pro Bowl level?

Chandler Jones is having a hell of a season. The Patriots team as a whole isn't near the top of the list in terms of pass rush, but the defensive end in his sophomore year is certainly right up there with the best of the outside rushers. Jones leads his teammates in nearly every category. He currently has 6.5 sacks (more than he had all of last year), he has 13 quarterback...

Rob Gronkowski says he's healthy, no setbacks after debut

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski who made his season debut in Week 7 and finished with a team-high eight catches for 114 yards said Wednesday that everything checked out well related to his health and that he's going to put his injuries in the past. "I felt good" he said. "Everything checked out well. And all with the injury stuff and everything I...

Chandler Jones’ sacks help Patriots' ailing defense

Chandler Jones is on pace to have the most productive pass-rushing season of any Patriot in the Bill Belichick era. Ratchet it up a notch and he might have the best year of any quarterback-seeking missile since Andre Tippett terrorized offensive backfields three decades ago. Jones who has 6.5 sacks is on pace for 15 quarterback takedowns this season and the Patriots need him to...

Raiders Injury Report: Center Stefen Wisniewski Returns To Practice

The Oakland Raiders have now submitted their Wednesday injury report and it looks as though they might have a chance to get back a key offensive linemen for the Sunday game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Center Stefen Wisniewski (knee) returned to practice Wednesday after missing the last two games with a knee injury. Despite Wisniewski being listed as a limited participant, Raiders...

Amendola declares himself ready to go

Patriots receiver Danny Amendola says he’ll be ready to play on Sunday against the Dolphins. “I had a good week and I’m ready to go” Amendola told the Providence Journal. “I feel as good as I can. I’m not really worried about the past. I’m worried about the future. I’m excited. I look forward to Sunday.” However it’s important to remember that just because a...

New England Patriots: Timing is everything

In football timing is everything. From the timing between a wide receiver and quarterback on a simple passing route to the timing needed for a franchise to flourish with multiple stars hitting their prime at the same time, it is ultimately what determines the short term and long term success of a team.    On Sunday, the Patriots had no timing whatsoever. Tom Brady finished with...

Patriots players are excited about Andre Carter's return

Marc Piscotty/Getty Images Andre Carter has now officially signed with the Patriots, returning to Foxboro once again. Carter previously played for the Pats in 2011, when he had a career year. Before his injury Carter totaled 10 sacks which still tied for leading on the team that season. He was also honored as a Pro Bowl selection, the first/only time of his career. Unfortunately...

5 questions with the Boston Globe's Ben Volin

This week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Ben Volin of the Boston Globe.  Ben used to be on our side as a Dolphins beat reporter and columnist of the Palm Beach Post.  However, Ben now covers the Patriots in Boston for the Globe.  Ben can be followed on Twitter at @BenVolin...please follow Ben for insight this week about our rival, the New England Patriots and in future...

Steelers Recent History Against Raiders Not So Good

Nice one here by Mike Prisuta, he of Steelers.com and many other affiliates that provide coverage on the Black and Gold, that examines the Steelers recent history with the Oakland Raiders. The matchup, as you might fail to remember due to trauma, is currently skewed toward Oakland. The Raiders have won 3 of the last 4 meetings, two in Oakland and one at Heinz Field. The...
