23-year old WR Andre Roberts looked like he was sleepwalking early this year, but he has come on big time lately. In his last five games, Roberts has caught 20 passes for 286 yards (14.3 avg). The Cardinals are incidentally 4-1 in their last five games, so Roberts is helping them out quite a bit lately. Roberts has now played in 12 games for the Cardinals so far this year and he has caught 33 passes for 419 yards (12.7 avg). Roberts has now played in 27 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has caught 57 passes for 726 yards (12.7 avg) with 2 TD grabs. The Cardinals hope Roberts keeps playing well as they have needed a #3 WR for quite some time now and it looks like he’s trying to embrace the job.
BEST OF MAXIM
I am constantly amazed at the number of NFL players who have very tragic things that have happened in their histories. You can’t even watch E:60 or Sunday NIght Football without tearing up. So I don’t expect people to know each players’ story cause there are a lot of touching ones out there.
One of those stories is the one Darnell Dockett tells about finding his mother murdered...
(Eds: With AP Photos.) By BOB BAUM AP Sports Writer Calais Campbell sat at his locker surrounded by reporters. Leaning against a wooden panel nearby was a framed photograph of his blocked field goal against the St. Louis Rams five weeks ago.
The Rams would have won the game with the kick, but Campbell's block forced overtime, and Arizona won 19-13 on Patrick Peterson's 99...
PULLMAN – Mike Leach comes to Pullman with a reputation for filling up reporters’ notebooks, and he did not disappoint at his first two press conferences. Between his Pullman and Seattle appearances, Washington State’s new football coach entertained more than 1,500 reporters, alums, students and other interested parties with a variety of inspiring, informative and/or humorous...
Over the Arizona Cardinals' last 16 games, dating back to Week 14 last season, John Skelton and Kevin Kolb have each drawn eight starts. Skelton has been mostly miserable, completing just 49.0 percent of his passes, gaining only 5.8 yards per attempt, tossing six touchdown passes and nine interceptions. Kolb hasn't exactly put on a clinic, either, but he's been demonstrably...
Were not sure Arizona State will take its cues from former NFL coach, current ESPN analyst and part-time nut job Jon Gruden, but hey, the way the coaching search has gone, why not?
Gruden told ArizonaSports 620 that former South Florida coach Jim Leavitt would be a good hire for ASU. Leavitt is in his first season as linebackers coach with the surprising San Francisco 49ers.
Cardinals extra: Fair or not, when the word "toughness" appeared near Wells' name, the words "lack of" usually preceded it.
So today's the day - we finally get a look at the new WSU coach, as the locals head to Pullman to take a look at none other than Mike Leach. It seems like an eternity since early last week, when reports started to surface that 1) Wulff was out, and 2) Leach was candidate number one. And in the world of these here internets 'n such, a week is a flippin' LIFETIME...
Notes: Other than being close to family, Todd Heap's return to Arizona has not worked as anyone planned.
Cardinals safety Kerry Rhodes knows exactly how he'll be used when he returns from a broken left foot. It's the "when" part that's uncertain.
In winning four of the past five games to improve to 5-7, the Cardinals have allowed just one rushing touchdown and five offensive touchdowns.
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) -- Mike Leach was introduced Tuesday as the new head coach at Washington State.
