The Denver Broncos will bring in free agent wide receiver Brandon Stokley for a visit, according to NFL Network‘s Jason La Canfora.  Stokley may be passing a physical away from signing with the team, according to La Canfora’s sources.

When Stokley ran routes for Peyton Manning last month and helped the Broncos sway the veteran quarterback, BroncoTalk predicted that the Broncos might be interested in bringing the veteran receiver to training camp this summer.  Bringing in Stokley would reunite the 35-year old receiver with the quarterback he posted career numbers with — 68 catches for  1,077 yards and 10 touchdowns — in 2004 and provide a familiar target for Manning in training camp.

Stokley (6-0, 192 lbs.) would also provide a veteran leader to the young bucks on Denver’s roster still learning the tricks of the trade at the wide receiver position.  Stokley played for the Broncos from 2007 to 2009 and played with Manning in Indianapolis from 2003 to 2006).

The Broncos currently have have ten receivers on the roster in returning starts Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, journeymen Matthew Willis, Andre Caldwell, Mark Dell and Jason Hill, youngsters D’Andre Goodwin, Tyler Grisham and Greg Orton and the final selection of 2010 NFL Draft — 255th overall Mr. Irrelevant himself — Tim Toone.  The Broncos could definitely upgrade the position and Stokley would provide good depth and experience to a young receiving corps.

A two-time Super Bowl champion (XXXV, Baltimore Ravens, XLI, Indianapolis Colts), Stokley has started in 34 career games and caught 339 passes for 4,680 yards and 34 touchdowns.  In Denver, Stokley will of course forever be remembered for this play.

It looks like Stokley may be returning to Denver.  Would you be in favor of the team bringing the veteran to camp?
