Reggie Williams will have to find another locale to launch his comeback. The former first-round pick had his attempt to return to the NFL aborted on Friday as the Seahawks released him and fellow WR Victor James in order to make roster space for fourth-round selections Walter Thurmond and E.J. Wilson and fifth-round choice Kam Chancellor. A former all-Pac-10 performer, Williams was selected with the ninth overall pick of the 2004 draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He failed to live up to lofty expectations, catching 189 passes and 18 touchdowns in a four-year stint that ended after the 2008 season. Both Williams  — who missed the 2009 season — and James were victims of a numbers game that was further daunted by the impressive minicamp showings of former USC wideout Mike Williams and second-round pick Golden Tate.
