Steelers receiver Emmanuel Sanders was scrapped as the face of an anti-littering campaign after he was fined for failing to put out the trash properly, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported. Sanders appeared earlier in the week in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court alongside teammate Antonio Brown as the pair pleaded guilty to leaving boxes behind a private dumpster in the Beltzhoover neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Both were fined $300 plus court costs, before state officials confirmed they would refuse to use a local television ad that featured Sanders encouraging people not to litter. The campaign ad also later was dropped from the campaign's website. Speaking during a break from Steelers minicamp, Sanders suggested his public appeal could be recycled given he apparently didn't mean to litter. "I think littering is more throwing trash on the ground and knowing that you're wrong for it," he told the Tribune-Review. "I actually put the trash in the tra...

Steelers Littergate: Anti-litter Group Should Use Sanders Mistake As Teaching Opportunity

Let me start this post off by saying that I have littered before. I have done it more than once in my life as well. Not recently mind you, but I have done it. In addition, I have never been ticketed or fined for it. Boy, that feels good to get that off my chest. It seems that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers Emmanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown have also littered in their past as...

Ben Roethlisberger Says He’s Not Going To Change His Game

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger met the media on Wednesday following the morning mini-camp practice and answered questions about his age, style of play, the offense and of course Mike Wallace. The Steelers quarterback was asked if anyone has every told him in the past to just go down and take a hit or run out of bounds. "Yeah, all the time. My mom, my wife...

Steelers' Sanders, Brown plead guilty... of littering

News is slow at this time of the offseason. We all know it. That's why the following is such a huge deal for Steelers fans. Wide receivers Emmanuel Sanders and Antontio Brown pleaded guilty on Monday to leaving boxes by a private dumpster. You read that right. They pleaded guilty -- to leaving boxes -- by a dumpster. We'll just go ahead and ignore the fact that they actually...

Pittsburgh Steelers open mini-camp with three important rookies finally in camp and without Mike Wallace

The Pittsburgh Steelers opened mini-camp today in preparation for the 2012 season. Of course, the big news of the day was expected as Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Wallace did not report. The restricted free agent has still not signed his RFA tender and looks to continue his holdout by missing these five mandatory sessions. Besides the Wallace story, the focus turned to the Steelers...

Steelers Six From Around The Web – June 14th – Antonio Brown Talks Contract Year Edition

The Top 100 Players of 2012 rolled on last night with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger ranking 30th and outside linebacker James Harrison ranking 29th on the list that none of the players seem to admit voting for. Emmanuel Sanders joined 93.7 The Fan to talk about how the learning of the offense is going and how he currently still is the return man heading out...

Art Rooney II on Mike Wallace: “He should be here”

Getty Images Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney II had a message for wide receiver Mike Wallace who’s currently holding out for a new contract, after the Steelers tagged him as a restricted free agent. “He should be here,” Rooney said, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Rooney has a point since the Steelers are installing a brand new offense with the addition of offensive...

Leftwich wins longest throw competition; Kirby Wilson returns

-B- The Steelers wrapped up their mini-camp today with a little bit of fun. The quarterbacks had a longest throw competition and the winner was big Byron Leftwich, who bested Troy Smith in the last round with a throw of over 70 yards. Pretty impressive. No word if Roethlisberger participated or how far he threw.  -B- Speaking of Big Ben, he was ranked the 30th best player in...

Report: Steelers won’t reduce Mike Wallace’s tender

Getty Images Today is the only day that the Pittsburgh Steelers can reduce wide receiver Mike Wallace’s restricted free agent tender from $2.72 million to $577,000. According to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Steelers have already decided to not slash a large chunk of Wallace’s salary for 2012, even though he still hasn’t signed his tender. “That’s...

Art Rooney II on Mike Wallace: “He should be here.”

The Mike Wallace ordeal has been the talk and focus of the Pittsburgh Steelers off-season thus far. From Wallace asking for outrageous money from teams interested in him as a free agent, to his walk of shame back to the ‘Burgh after no teams would pony up that kind of dough, #17 has been the talk of the town. The date to watch is June 15th, as that is the deadline for Wallace to...

Casey Hampton believes he’ll be ready for the season opener

Getty Images Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Casey Hampton indicated on Wednesday that he’s still optimistic that he’ll be ready for week one of the regular season–after tearing his ACL in his left knee back in January. “I’m planning on coming back for the season,” Hampton said Wednesday, per ESPN.com. “That’s what I’m looking at. That’s realistic for me. I don’t...

Little talk between Steelers and Mike Wallace

Restricted free agent Mike Wallace is absent from the Steelers’ mandatory minicamp. The word “mandatory” is a little misleading because it’s only mandatory if a player is under contract, which Wallace, who has yet to sign his restricted free agent tender, is not currently, so the Steelers can’t fine him. However, they can reduce his tender value from 2.742 million to 577...

This Steelers Grave Is Highly Pittsburghish

Welp, the late Mr. James here had his life tragically cut short just shy of his 24th birthday. On the bright side, he died before having to watch the Steelers lose to the Packers in Super Bowl XLV two and a half months later. So that’s nice. Oh, and he has a giant Steelers helmet on his grave, which is hopefully something he asked for before dying. I feel like it has to be. Then...
