On the day after the Texans second consecutive loss, head coach Gary Kubiak says he has no intention of changing starting quarterbacks. “T.J. continues to do some good things,” Kubiak said. “You complete 13 out of 16 throws in this league, and you’re doing something right. We’ve got to trust him and move forward, and everybody’s got to do their job around him.” Since taking over injured quarterbacks Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart, Yates, a 2011 fifth-round pick out of North Carolina, has completed 78-of-130 pass attempts for 902 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. If Kubiak were going to make a move, there’s no shortage of experience on the Texans bench. Backup quarterbacks Jake Delhomme and Jeff Garcia are a combined 78 years old, have appeared in 227 NFL games, passed for 46,301 yards with 286 touchdowns, 184 interceptions and have five Pro Bowl appearances.

Kubiak asking for more from offense

Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Monday that T.J. Yates will continue as the team's starting quarterback, although the coach acknowledged that there is plenty of work to do on the offensive side of the ball if his team is to be playoff-ready. And Kubiak also expressed concern that, in back to back weeks, the defense has struggled in the fourth quarter. "That's two weeks...

Texans sticking with Yates as QB

Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak said he is sticking with rookie quarterback T.J. Yates as his starter. The Texans (10-5), who have already wrapped up the AFC South Division title, have dropped back-to-back games, including a last-minute 19-16 loss at Indianapolis on Thursday night. Yates was thrust into the lineup after starter Matt Schaub and backup Matt Leinart were lost for...

NFL officials have no leeway for common sense calls

While the Texans' loss to the Colts Tuesday night was not caused by the officials, they contributed. Yet, they did nothing wrong. They made calls that they have to make or they could lose their jobs. That is the problem with officiating in the NFL that sets it considerably behind other pro sports like the NBA, NHL and MLB. NFL officials are part-timers with no union to protect...

Texans vs. Colts: Being Grateful Edition

This is a change from what we normally do after the games, but this game recap edition has to do with being grateful for having a playoff team here in Houston. Despite a heartbreaking loss against the Indianapolis Colts 19-16, the fan base is close to pushing the “reset” button on this season. The Texans reeled off a 7 game win streak, and in NFL terms that is tough...

Here's How Dan Orlovsky (With The Help Of The Houston Texans) Ruined Christmas For Colts Fans

Down 16-12 to the Houston Texans with 1:50 left in the game, no timeouts, and the ball on their own 22, the Indianapolis Colts would have been heavy dogs to win even with Peyton Manning playing quarterback. But win they did, thanks to the heroics of backup-backup QB Dan Orlovsky and some timely penalties by the Texans defense (who had their own incentive to lose). It put the Colts...
