Hadn’t seen this photo of Ron Jeremy at the 2003 Ole Miss-Memphis game in over 4.5 years until tonight when it showed up on Twitter. This pic of the Hedgehog takes me to February 2008 when it was posted on BC to very little fanfare on the Internet. Those sure were the days. I’d use Flickr for crazy photos and college cheerleaders hadn’t figured out how to lock their Facebook accounts.

Who won this game?

It was played September 6 at the Liberty Bowl. Eli Manning was the senior gunslinger for Ole Miss and rolled into Memphis after starting the season with a victory against Vandy.

The Hedgehog picked a helluva game to catch that Saturday afternoon in Memphis. The teams combined for over 900 yards of total offense and 78 points.

Danny Wimprine threw for 355 yards and three touchdowns as Memphis beat Mississippi 44-34 Saturday.

Wimprine threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to DeAngelo Williams for one score and Williams, who had 135 yards rushing, also scored on runs of a 19 and 20 yards.

But it was a 92-yard touchdown pass from Wimprine to Tavarious Davis with just over six minutes to play that put Memphis ahead for good. Under pressure and off balance in his own end zone, Wimprine hit Davis near midfield, and Davis outran the defense to give the Tigers (2-0) a 38-34 lead. Wimprine finished 18-of-33.

It marked the first Memphis win over the Rebels (1-1) since 1994, and the most points ever scored by Memphis in the 53-game series.

The Tigers overcame four touchdown passes by Ole Miss quarterback Eli Manning and Rebel scores on six successive possessions.

Manning, who was 26-of-48 for 292 yards, threw two interceptions in the fourth quarter, thwarting any potential comeback. Memphis converted one interception into a 17-yard field goal by Stephen Gostkowski to seal the victory.

Ole Miss would end the season as co-Western Division champions (LSU) and 10-3 after beating Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl.

Why was Ron Jeremy at the Liberty Bowl? He’s a football fan. Why was he seemingly sitting eight rows from the top of the stadium? Maybe he didn’t want bothered by the fratty autograph hunters. We’re still haunted to this day as to how the most famous male porn star in the history of the sport catches a Memphis game and there aren’t tales to be told.

Someone has a story to share about Ron’s football fandome. Step forward. Tell us Ron Jeremy football gambling stories. Tell us about his BCS parties. Share memories of talking BCS rankings at a Tulsa-UTEP war in 2001.

Eli Manning: What Do The Numbers Say

By: Michael Samuels II Eli Manning, winner of two of super bowls in the last five years. Two super bowl MVP’s and his last name is Manning. Crazy how quick times change, last year Eli Manning’s name would have never came up in a discussion of elite QBs in the game. One “decent” year and a team that came together at the right time can change that apparently. When I look at...
