If this is what happens when I don't write a preview, I'm never writing another one again. Last week, there was apparently much crying about how the Steelers only beat the Kansas City Chiefs by 4 points. Well... Challenge accepted. A blocked field goal, a punt return touchdown, a (forced and) recovered kickoff fumble, an Ike Taylor pick, Hines Ward over 12,000 career yards receiving, 2 Rashard Mendenhall TDs, 3 James Harrissassin sacks, a 9-3 record, and a partridge in a pear tree.Sounds like a Pee Wee Herman tequila dance-worthy day to me... (excellent gif via xmas ape)So, yeah, there were so many highlights in this game (mostly from the first half), I'd have to actually write a full recap in order to give credit to everyone. But since we have a date this Thursday night, and I have grand plans to actually write a preview this week, I'm not going to do that. I will, however, give mad props to Antonio Brown yet again. 2 catches for 67 yards, ...

The Pittsburgh Steelers roll the Bengals to move to 9-3

A week after scuffling badly in a way-too-close win in Kansas City, the Pittsburgh Steelers hammered the fading Cincinnati Bengals 35-7 in Pittsburgh today to move to 9-3 and maintain a share of 1st place in the AFC North.  Seven quick thoughts before heading into a short week and a matchup with Cleveland on Thursday night: 1.  The special teams have come a long, long way.  Early...

Hines Ward Reaches 12,000 Yard Milestone vs. Bengals

Steelers Wide Receiver Hines Ward reached his first of two milestones he is looking to accomplish this season in the second quarter vs. the Bengals.  Ward surpassed 12,000 career receiving yards on a pass from Ben Roethlisberger.  It was a 12 yard pass on a second and 15 giving the Steelers a third and short.  They were able to get the first down. Ward now has 2 catches for 17...

Steelers offense comes to life in 35-7 trouncing of Bengals

After a poor offensive effort against the Kansas City Chiefs last week, the Steelers felt like they had something to prove against a Bengals defense that hadn't allowed a TD in Pittsburgh since 2009. The Steelers didn't mess around this time. They put up 4 touchdowns in the 2nd quarter and the game was over at halftime. Rashard Mendenhall led the way with two rushing touchdowns...

Bengals vs. Steelers Halftime Notes

The Steelers are leading the Bengals 28-7 at the half.  Here are some notes from the game. Antonio Brown returned a punt for 60 yards.  The first punt return of the season for the Steelers. James Harrison picked up his first sack since week 9 in Baltimore. Rashard Mendenhall has 2 touchdowns on 8 carries giving him 8 touchdowns on the season A.J. Green looks scary good.  He is...

Steelers For Once Don’t Keep Things Exciting in 35-7 Rout Over Bengals

The Pittsburgh Steelers managed to not keep things close playing against division opponent the Cincinnati Bengals. With the Bengals fighting for their playoff lives, this game certainly didn’t go how many were expecting it to. For the Steelers, after the sloppy win last Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, one would think that with the playoffs on the line and these...

Game Day Notebook

Today's Game Day Notebook includes items on Doug Legursky, Cortez Allen, Curtis Brown, Hines Ward and A.J. Green.

Sunday’s five most valuable players, Week 13

Isaac Redman and Rashard Mendenhall, Running Backs, Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers game plan seemed to be to jam the football into the ears of the Bengals via a physical running game, much like they've done for the last, I don't know, two decades or so. Combined, Mendenhall and Redman had 24 carries, 111 yards, two touchdowns, and 2,392 broken tackles. The Steelers were...

Season 2, Episode 51 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I got the Friday show started by looking at the Steelers injury report entering the weekend. We also take a look at the Bengals injury report and how it could have a big impact on this game, especially in relation to the Bengals secondary. How good of a play-action quarterback is Ben Roethlisberger and how bad...

Know Your Opponent — Steelers, Part II

Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (@ScottBrown_Trib) returns to give us his perspective on Sunday’s game: What’s the one thing the Steelers need to improve on offense compared to the first game? It wouldn’t hurt if they average more than the 3.5 yards per carry they had against the Bengals on Nov. 13. The Steelers averaged 3.9 yards per carry last Sunday...
