Found September 16, 2012 on Kissing Suzy Kolber:
On Friday, an unfeeling Internet troll vandalized Brandon Weeden’s Wikipedia page by adding that the rookie quarterback’s nickname is Doopy Pantz. Now, it takes very little to make such a cruel tweak to a Wikipedia entry and the change has already been undone by another user. Furthermore, the derisive nom de scat was most likely applied as the result of one atrocious performance in Weeden’s first career NFL start, captaining an offense with negligible talent at receiver against a top 10 defense from a year ago. All that said, I love and fully endorse the use of Doopy Pantz in any and all references to Brandon Weeden. And why not? We called Derek Anderson “Horse Balls” for something like three years and I have no earthly recollection as to why. With enough work, we can make Weeden aware of his new name and even learn to embrace it. It’s not like things will get better for him on the field. Carl has decreed it. Brandon Weeden Sets Browns Rookie Mark for Passing Yards

From the Browns- “Rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden completed 26 of 37 passes (70.3%) for 322 yards and his first two career passing touchdowns. He finished with a 114.9 rating. His 322 passing yards were a Browns rookie record surpassing the previous mark of 310 set by Eric Zeier at Cincinnati on October 29, 1995.” MOST PASSING YARDS IN A GAME BY A BROWNS ROOKIE      ...

Cleveland Browns Curse: Brandon Weeden Fails To Stop The Bleeding

It's another gloomy day in Cleveland. After Sunday's road loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cleveland Browns drop to 0-2 on the year. For most teams in the NFL, this wouldn't be any reason to press the panic button and jump ship. But the Browns have now lost their last eight contests, dating back to November of last year when they won a nail-biter over the Jacksonville...

Shurmurball Week 2: It gets better?

It can’t get any worse for Brandon Weeden and the Browns offense today in Cincinnati against the Queen City Kitties. But can it be just as bad? And the defense? Did it contain the Eagles last week or did the Eagles contain themselves? The Week 2 NFL picks are here and the rest is your Shurmurball Week 2 support group open thread. Tweet

Browns’ Weeden, Richardson take first steps down the yellow brick road

Dorothy once found herself stranded in a new land with no family or friends. All she wanted to do was go home. But she didn’t know how to get there. She was shown a yellow brick road with the answer to her desire at the end of it. The only way to get home was to take that first step. Along the trip, she picked up life lessons and friends to help her get home.  The 2012 Cleveland...

Richardson and Weeden complete rare feat

Cleveland Browns 1st-round picks Trent Richardson and Brandon Weedenpulled off a rare feat for a pair of rookies on Sunday afternoon against the Bengals. Hopefully Weeden isn't the next Tony Banks They became the first pair of rookie teammates to throw for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in the same game since 1996. The down side to this accomplishment? The previous duo doesn’t...

Eagles DE Babin fined for roughing Weeden

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Jason Babin was fined $15,750 for roughing Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden in last Sunday's season opener, according to Philly.com. Babin was fined for "unnecessarily" driving Weeden into the ground, even though no penalty was called on the play. He received a fine on a similar play last year for roughing the passer...

Browns move ball but defense dominated by Bengals

“The Browns’ young secondary battled, but was strained by the loss of Haden to his suspension and Brown to a neck stinger.” — Mary Kay Cabot “Last week [against the Ravens] was just bad. This week some of the [Browns' longer gains] were checkdowns that we missed.” — Bengals cornerback Leon Hall “I wish I had a dollar for every hour I put in this week.” — Brandon...

Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals: Hero and Zero of the Game

In a game that was supposed to be one of the more boring games in the NFL this week the clash of Ohio turned out to be a high scoring barn burner.  Both teams wanted to come out and show that last weeks performances were just anomalies and they could really play. In a game with many heroes and no zeros I thought we would do an ode to Hockey giving out the three stars of the game...

Cleveland Browns Find Positives In Loss Against Bengals

I was able to take in the Browns at Bengals game this afternoon from the 30-yard line at Paul Brown Stadium, and despite a tough division loss, the Browns looked better than I thought they would.Defensively, Cleveland took a step backwards, giving up 27 points (the other Bengals TD was a punt return).  This was to be expected with star cornerback Joe Haden out due to a suspension...

The Cleveland Browns: Ten observations from the Browns vs Bengals game

Brandon Weeden played like a 28 year old 1st round draft pick, and that’s a compliment. He broke rookie QB passing records, and that list includes Bernie Kosar, Brian Sipe, Otto Graham and Eric Zeier to bring the list and the accomplishment back to reality. I was one of the biggest screamers that if he did not improve he would have to get yanked by week 6.  After a 26-37...

Idle chatter: A pair of long seasons ahead?

1. That we keep using the word "historical" with the, um, achievements of the Browns offense can not be a good thing. How do the Browns go about getting it fixed? McManamon: Hope. Thats basically what the Browns are relying on at this point. Hope that Trent Richardson gets better quickly and revives the moribund running game. Hope that Brandon Weedens opener was just an...
