With the fifth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions selected defensive end Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah out of BYU. He was expected to be a high draft pick, but not many people expected his choice of accessory.
When the cameras went in for a close-up, they showed that Ansah was wearing 3D glasses without the lenses.
Many people made jokes about it and thought it was just a humorous move on Ansah’s part. It turns out that it paid off for the Lions rookie.
IMAX sent the letter below to Ansah on Friday offering him free movies for a year:
Pretty cool move by IMAX. I guess the joke is on whomever made fun of Ansah’s eyewear now.

Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah took the stage with a pair of eye-catching lensless 3D glasses when he was selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round (No. 5 overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 25. While it may have started out just as a dare from the folks at BYU, it has now turned into a pretty sweet perk for Ansah, who picked up the glasses when he went to...
The Detroit Lions, most would agree, selected for need during the 2013 NFL Draft and may have found multiple starters in the process. Where did that leave the team's roster in the aftermath, and what kind of positional battles will the new rookies face this summer while in training camp?
That's today's big question, as we break down how each new rookie might fit into...

According to Next Impulse Sports, IMAX has given Ansah a free pass to see all of the IMAX movies he wants for an entire year. Hey IMAX I can start wearing 3-D glasses too. Need NFL Tickets?

The more and more I read and watch film on Darius Slay, the more and more I think the Detroit Lions made a very astute pick in the second round of the NFL draft. The potential here is this, Slay, out of Mississippi State, could fill two needs on this team from day one. He [...]
Detroit Lions number one draft pick Ziggy Ansah wore some hideous 3-D glasses to the NFL Draft. But despite the goofy look the glasses have already paid off for Ansah.
The glasses, which Ansah told reporters he acquired when he went to see "Thor," are just part of the Ghana native's unique identity and sense of humor.
The joke, which was a dare from friends...
First down: The Detroit Lions have tried to get bigger -- and longer -- at defensive end.
The result could be more passes getting knocked down at the line of scrimmage this coming season.
J.J. Watt, the leagues most disruptive defensive lineman, knocked down 16 passes last year for the Houston Texans.
The Lions nine defensive linemen, meanwhile, combined for...
Barry Sanders dominated high school competition just like you might expect. This highlight reel of the former Detroit Lions superstar is just silly.
Finally the 2013 NFL Draft is over. After an incredible amount of time invested in mock drafts, film studies and following up with every single pick from Thursday through Saturday, the only thing that’s left is to grade every team and well that’s what I’ll do. So first up with the full seven round grade is the Detroit Lions.
Round One: DE from...
