Nugent is Ed Block recipient; Johnson signed to practice squad
The Bengals have named K Mike Nugent as their recipient of this year’s Ed Block Courage Award. The award honors players who demonstrate commitment to the values of sportsmanship and courage. Each NFL team selects one player as its representative. Nugent will be honored with other teams’ recipients at the annual awards banquet in Baltimore after the 2011 season.

The Cincinnati Bengals lose Mike Nugent for the year
The Bengals have lost 28-year old kicker Mike Nugent for the season due to a torn ACL and a sprained MCL. Nugent played in all 9 games for the Bengals this year and he connected on 15 of 19 field goals (78.9%) and 17 of 17 extra points, good for 62 points. The Bengals will sign someone to replace Nugent this week likely going with a veteran.
