Panthers terminate Otah's contract
The Carolina Panthers have announced they've terminated the contract of offensive tackle Jeff Otah, a former first-round draft pick.
Carolina dealt Otah to the New York Jets on July 23 for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2013, but the trade was rescinded after Otah failed a physical, and he reverted back to the Panthers roster.
The Panthers selected the 6-foot-7,...

Otah fails Jets physical, goes back to Panthers
CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Jeff Otah is heading back to the Carolina Panthers.
The veteran offensive tackle failed his physical again with the Jets on Tuesday, meaning New York's trade with Carolina was rescinded. Otah was acquired by the Jets last Monday, but failed his first physical and was placed on the active-physically unable to perform list. He had seven days -- until Tuesday...

Jets could extend window for Otah trade
The Jets could extend the seven-day window for offensive tackle Jeff Otah to pass his physical and complete his acquisition from the Panthers. Otah failed his entrance physical with the Jets and has been on the physically unable to perform list. He's doing some individual rehabilitation work with team trainers at training camp in SUNY-Cortland but said Monday he wasn't...
Panthers move on from Otah
The Panthers are still waiting to see if their trade of former first-round pick Jeff Otah to the Jets goes through, but they've clearly moved on without him.
If Otah doesn't pass the Jets physical by Tuesday's deadline, he'd revert to the Panthers, but they think there's enough interest league-wide that they can move him elsewhere if need be. The Panthers got...

Jets can send Jeff Otah back to Panthers if he can’t pass physical
The Panthers shipped Jeff Otah to the New York Jets earlier this week for a conditional late round pick. Otah, the 19th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, was once one of the better right tackles in the league, but he’s missed every game but 4 in the last 2 seasons with injuries and now looks like a bust. Otah has also reportedly been accused by the Panthers’ coaching staff of being...
Jets get veteran OT Jeff Otah
The New York Jets have acquired tackle Jeff Otah from the Carolina Panthers for an undisclosed conditional draft choice.
Otah spent four seasons with the Panthers after being a first-round draft choice (19th overall) in 2008. He started all 29 games that he played.
But last season, he played in only four games, then went on injured reserve on Oct. 19 with a left knee injury. He...

MRI of Panthers’ Jeff Otah is negative
The Panthers were given a scare last week when Jeff Otah injured his left knee in OTAs, the same left knee that caused him to miss 28 games over the past 2 seasons. However, the MRI today came back negative. Still, the Panthers could rest him for the rest of OTAs and even minicamp later this month as a precautionary measure, according to the Charlotte Observer. If they do that, it...
Panthers try to find a way to motivate Otah
They've waited for him to heal, and hoped he'd keep himself in shape.
But the Panthers latest attempt to get something out of right tackle Jeff Otah was evident when they lined him up with the second line during the first week of OTAs. They used former undrafted rookie Byron Bell with the first team, leaving the former first-round pick as a reserve.
In one respect, it makes...

Panthers’ Jeff Otah is not guaranteed a starting job
There was a time when Jeff Otah was one of the best right tackles in the game, young, and a former first round pick. However, thanks to knee injuries, Otah has missed all but 4 games over the last 2 seasons. He declared himself 100% earlier this offseason, which should be taken with a grain of salt, especially after he did the same thing last offseason. However, Panthers Head Coach...
