Before I get my balls deep in this recap's ass, what the **** is up with the conference alignment proposed by the NHL? Having Tampa and Florida in "Conference 2" (and for the sake of arguments and not being so generic as Conference 2, I'm calling it Adams Division) make no sense geographically. If I had my way, I would remove the Florida teams from the conference (and NHL) and add them to "Conference 1", remove the New York teams and add them to Adams Division. It would look something like this:  Conference 1 Adams Conference Pittsburgh Headaches Boston Bruins Philadelphia Filthdragons Buffalo LOLS New Jersey Slutresses Montreal Ribbits Florida Early Bird Specials Brooklyn Nobody Shows Up Tampa Bay Something or Others New York Rags Columbus Last Placers Detroit ...

KHL goalie ejected for groin slash

In Friday night KHL playoff action, Neftekhimik goaltender Matt Dalton was ejected for slashing Ak Bars Kazan forward Alexei Tereshchenko in the groin. It happened in the second period while the game was scoreless. Tereshchenko positioned himself right in front of Dalton on a power play when Dalton slipped his stick between Tereshchenko's legs and nailed him in the groin, then...

‘Ballerina’ Zdeno Chara Dazzles With Beautiful Spin Move Before Backhand Goal (Video)

Zdeno Chara has been called a lot of things throughout his successful career. However, one thing the Bruins captain isn’t usually been described as is nimble. Chara scored the Bruins’ second goal on Sunday with a dazzling spin and a backhand, top-shelf shot. The goal gave Boston a 2-0 lead and sent Jack Edwards into a frenzy when the NESN announcer called Big Z a ballerina...

Zdeno Chara Adds ‘Sunshine Spin-O-Rama’ to List of Achievements After Crazy Goal Lifts Bruins to Victory (Video)

It’s usually a highlight whenever Zdeno Chara scores for the Bruins, but Sunday’s effort kicked things up a notch or three. The Bruins’ captain scored on a whirling dervish through the Panthers defense, pulling off a perfect spin-o-rama before going top shelf to beat goalie Jacob Markstrom. The tally cemented a two-goal lead for the B’s, capping off a memorable swing through...

Bruins Spend Off Day in Florida by Fishing, Enjoying Fact They Aren’t in Snowy Boston (Video)

Tyler Seguin and the Bruins aren’t in Boston this week, and they seem pretty happy with that fact. After all, when presented with a chance to escape snowy Boston for a couple of days and soak up some sunshine in Florida, most people would jump at the chance. That’s exactly what the B’s did on Saturday, enjoying an increasingly rare off day at owner Jeremy Jacobs‘ house with...

Bruins Clear Winners of Trade With Panthers That Brought Nathan Horton, Gregory Campbell to Boston

Sunday’s Captain Morgan Legendary Moment laid the foundation for the Bruins’ historic Stanley Cup run of 2011. Back in June of 2010, the B’s sent struggling defenseman Dennis Wideman and a pair of draft picks to the Panthers in exchange for forwards Nathan Horton and Gregory Campbell. Only third-round pick Kyle Rau is still in the Florida system — though he has not suited...

Dougie Hamilton Continuing to Grow as Player Despite NHL’s Steep Learning Curve (Video)

Dougie Hamilton burst onto the scene with much aplomb, but has quietly come back down to Earth after a hot start to his young NHL career. While the rookie defenseman has seen his ice time decrease incrementally as the season has gone one, there’s still plenty about Hamilton’s game for Bruins fans to feel positive about. Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley discussed Hamilton’s development...

Bruins Rookie Dougie Hamilton is Impressive!

It looks like rookie Dougie Hamilton is impressing the right people! The general manager of the Boston Bruins, Peter Chiarelli, is realistic in that he knows that some struggle is part of having a talented, young rookie on his team but he is also impressed by him. Hamilton is only 19 years old and playing [...]

Claude Julien Takes No Issues With Milan Lucic’s Penalties in Win Over Panthers

The Bruins were left shorthanded for four minutes on Sunday, and they lost one of their best players for an additional 10 minutes as well, but head coach Claude Julien had no problem with the situation. Having the league’s top-ranked penalty kill may have something to do with that, though. Milan Lucic was given a double-minor Sunday for retaliating against what he thought was a...

Bruins’ Penalty Kill Proves Dominant Again as Boston Completes Florida Sweep in Sunrise (Video)

With a 4-1 win over the Panthers on Sunday, the Bruins enter the most brutal portion of their schedule on a three-game winning streak. The B’s penalty-kill unit was dominant during the stretch, as it has been all season, and has held opponents scoreless on 20 consecutive power plays. In fact, Boston has allowed just three power-play goals all season, good for a 94.8 percent penalty...

Bruins Weekly Review: Train Keeps Rollin’

So I guess I should call this the Bruins Bi-monthly review because I keep forgetting it every other week.  Anyways, the Bruins have continued to be the consistent force we’ve gotten used to over the last three or so years.  They win mostly low-scoring games and don’t usually score the prettiest goals but they get it done.  Although they’ve played either three or four fewer...

Vote: Which Bruins Player Has Been the Most Pleasant Surprise So Far This Season?

The Bruins are off to a great start this season. With just two regulation losses through the team’s first 14 games, it’s safe to say that coach Claude Julien has to be happy with what’s transpired so far. What might be most surprising about the team’s success, however, is who is providing some of the biggest contributions to the roster. Who would have thought that resident...

Zdeno Chara spin-o-rama goal against the Florida Panthers

Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara is known for his size and strength, standing at 6’9″ 255 lbs.  Chara has won the hardest shot competition in the NHL All Star game multiple times, and owns the record for the hardest shot at 108.8 MPH.  After his goal on Sunday against the Florida Panthers, it might be time they add him to the shootout portion of the skills competition....

Zdangles Chara Will Impregnate You With This Spin-O-Rama Goal

What a goal by Zdeno Chara. Birth rates are gonna sky rocket in nine months.

Bruins Take Advantage of Poor Florida Change to Net Power-Play Goal (Video)

The Bruins’ power-play attack still leaves much to be desired, but the B’s capitalized with a Panther in the box on Sunday. Just over two minutes into the second period, a poorly timed change by Florida allowed Boston to make a 5-on-3 rush into the Panthers’ zone. Chris Bourque drew a pair of defensemen to him near the right boards, leaving a wide-open lane for Daniel Paille...

Zdeno Chara scores an awesome spin-o-rama goal

Wow!!! For a big man the Boston Bruins defensman Zdeno Chara moves pretty well. The Florida Panthers center Jonathan Huberdeau, not so much.
