Howdy from Ottawa.
The Mayans predicted the end of the world on the date December 21st, 2012. Apparently the Earth's axis will topple and all the planets water will be splashed over everything...kind of like rotating one of those Christmas glass balls filled with water.
Such prophecy can only be used for one thing...making a film. 2012 is out in 6 days and it looks horrible.
So what is this blog about? Well I have my own prophecy to announce. In 2010 there will not be a space odessey nor will the Ottawa Senators cease to exist. Ottawa won't be moving to Missouri. St. Louis has a team already, though I hear Kansas City wants a second shot at one. Our arena is still going to be out in Kanata, not LeBreton. But what will change is our salary cap situation.
Fast forward to the beginning of Free Agency and you'll find 4 Senators we can afford to lose; Schubert, Donovan, Auld and Smith. But you may also find 2 we cannot in D Anton Volchenkov and F Ryan Shannon. Volchenkov...

Spezza left off Team Canada training camp
Howdy. Great now another pissed off member of the Big 3.
I guess somebody watched the Senators last season other then us fans. Jason Spezza, who has lots of Team Canada experience, was left off the list of invitees to a Canada training camp in lovely Alberta.
Alberta? Well with that news of course Dany Heatley would be ON the list of invitees. Congrats Dany, represent the Sens and...

Howdy from a rainy day in Ottawa.
First let's deal with reality for a moment. A blogger has suggested that the NHLPA's statement saying they are 'backing Dany Heatley till his grave' in regards to his situation in Ottawa doesn't do anything to dispell whether or not it's members are a little ticked off with Dany. The question is how many NTC's have been...
Utterly Bewildered
Howdy from a hungover Ottawa. Good show last night from the Hill. My favourite part about Canada Day is seeing so many different peoples and cultures celebrating one nation.
Not totally shocked Heatley and Neil are still Sens today. Shocked on how it happened.
Obviously Bryan Murray and Co. were put in a difficult situation when Heatley decided to cut and run. Obviously however it...
Blog Hits: Dany Heatley demonization continues, Is Darryl Katz making rookie errors, Should Stars fans be mad?
Another day of free agents signing is over After and here is the word from the Blogs:
Cult of Hockey: David Staples will reserve judgement on maligning Dany Heatley character but that doesn’t inhibit others from doing it.
Lowetide: Interesting piece on the problems with rookies, but he isn’t talking about rookie players, he’s talking about rookie owner [...]
Spezza teeing it up for charity
One more time, Jason Spezza and a few of his friends will hit the links for some good times and a good cause.
The fourth annual Direct Energy Jason Spezza Celebrity Classic, presented by American Express, is set to tee off Monday at Greyhawk Go...
Heatley 'still an Ottawa Senator'
He's been the "dish man" – to use his words – for the vast majority of the 180 goals Dany Heatley has recorded over the past four seasons.
Ottawa Senators centre Jason Spezza offered up another assist for his linemate and...
In Defense of Dany Heatley (sort of)
One thing I was struck by yesterday as speculation unfolded on various signings, is that hockey fans and journalists are often very willing to believe the worst things about hockey players, and usually without any substantial confirmation that those things are true.
The Dany Heatley drama appears to be a grand example of this. Ask nearly any fan today what he thinks of...

Dany Heatley meets with Kevin Lowe: The secret transcript
Two men enter. One leaves. As everyone knows by now, Oilers president Kevin Lowe rushed to Kelowna last night to meet with Senators winger Dany Heatley in an attempt to convince him to waive his no-trade clause and accept a deal to Edmonton.Neither side is commenting about what went on at the meeting. But as long-time readers may have suspected, DGB spies were able to breach the security...
Karlsson eager for Senators challenge
All eyes will be on Erik Karlsson when the Ottawa Senators gather again in September for the opening of another training camp.
Not to mention a lot of hopes and dreams.
Already, many are looking toward the slick Swede to be the puck-moving s...
On Heatley and signing bonuses
Following the Dany Heatley story for the past few days has been a little bit depressing as an Oilers fan but, given that if you’re going to suck, you might as well be interesting, it isn’t all that bad. There are a lot of points that I think merit a bit of comment but [...]
Senators Lose Leverage and Increase Demands
There’s a lot I don’t get about the Dany Heatley ransom demands.
Like why are the Oilers so hot for a player who so obviously doesn’t want to play for them? Are they only interested because they know he’ll demand a trade in another two seasons? Do they think they can change him?
And as the demand [...]
Tambellini's PC: "We're Just Trying to Make our Team Better"
