Rangers Danger:
After an emotional loss to the Penguins on Tuesday night, the schedule seemed to have gotten easier when the Rangers welcomed the Devils to town. The team with the league’s worst record is a team you’re supposed to beat. But once again, that didn’t happen. The Rangers continued to play bad against bad teams by losing to their division rival 3-2 on Thursday night.
The Devils struck just 64 seconds into the game when highly-criticized forward Ilya Kovalchuk put one past Henrik Lundqvist. Lundqvist would then allow two goals in the second period before getting pulled for backup Martin Biron after facing only 12 shots. Biron stopped all six shots he faced. As mentioned previously here, goaltending has been a surprising problem for the Blueshirts this year, whether it’s blitzes by the opposition or inconsistency. Hank just didn’t have it on this night.
