Following an inconsistent first half of the season, Tootoo voluntarily checked himself into the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse Program on Dec. 27. No one really knew when to expect Tootoo back in the Preds lineup. He was back around the team less than two months later and was a better all-around hockey player once he returned to action. In the final weeks of the season, Tootoo started pouring in the points more than usual (7 points in the last 7 games) and tied his career high in points (18).His breakthrough, though, was in Round 1 against Anaheim.
